So I picked up my 2025 Maverick last Wednesday and seen over 35 miles on my truck which seemed oddly high. Seeing the first service entry upon getting to the dealership the odometer was at 17 miles. Then it had a second service entry the same day marked as tires and other and no data entered other than that, and the odometer was at 35 miles. So I inquired about this because that’s not a lot of miles but is at the same time. At first my dealer tried flat out claiming it only had 17 when I claimed but after showing proof that it was in fact over 35 he got back to me two hours later with a story that my truck had a check engine light and was idling at very high speed in park. This was the first I heard of any check engine lights coming on or any problems with the truck. No keep in mind it was sub 10 degrees that day. I personally feel if there really was an issue I should have been made aware of this before signing papers for the truck. But also a part of me thinks someone at the dealership took a long joyride in my vehicle and the story was fabricated about the engine issue. Not sure how I should feel about this.
At least the law is on their side until you sign a contract and take possession. It’s their vehicle to do with as they please even if you special ordered it. I don’t know what the laws are on how many miles would make it a used car but I bet you they could get away with a few hundred. When I picked up my 23 lariat, I was happy to see it had 12 miles on it.

See I’m more worried about the potential for my car to be a lemon since it was in production for 19 days with only a vague email during that time, then the service records showing the extra mileage made me question why, then finding out there was an engine problem upon its arrival at the dealership. I just feel like the dealership should be obligate to inform me of the issue it had and what it took to resolve it. I hope I don’t have further issues but if I do down the road at least I’d be informed of what it might be and have a record of it.

I appreciate the people who are actually engaging with this thread but I don’t get the ones who offer snarky quips. This is the first vehicle I ever ordered and it’s been a jarring experience to say the least. Being alarmed about my dealership not being transparent is a real concern for me. I as I’m sure all of you bought your vehicles hoping them to last. If you feel this thread has nothing to offer you then I’d appreciate it if you didn’t inform me and just move on.

Again thank you for those who are actually engaging be it sharing experiences and giving sage advice. After my last vehicles engine failure came from a major flaw in its engine design I am way more stressed out about this issue than I should be, but I just want to protect myself from being in that situation again.

Their "obligation" is to deliver it to you in "as expected" condition when you take delivery. The vehicle is the sole responsibility of FoMoCo and the dealership until money exchanges hands. Consider this: Worry is a misuse of imagination. Seriously, enjoy your new Mav. A meteor could fall on you in the next ten minutes or it maybe not... live and enjoy your life right now!

Thank you, those are wise words indeed. I will try my best not to overthink this situation any further.

I would just enjoy your new trucklet and not spend any more energy on the matter. If it comes down to a problem, worry then. Meanwhile enjoy it, show it off to your friends and neighbors and forget about the odometer.

Indeed. Of course I’ve read it. It’s now possible to buy a Chinese device that you can set your odometer at any number you want and nobody can tell. There’s so much to worry about now. You can’t bother worrying about much of it.

I bought a new F350 and it had 350 miles on it. They had to get it from Minneapolis to my dealership. But I did know ahead of time they were driving it.
After I retired, I drove cars that were being transfered from 1 dealer, to another. (Ford dealers) This is how they find a car for you that's within 100 miles. And NO, we don't beat on them. They swap inventory all the time.

I had 48 mi on my car when it got to the dealership. And I know it wasn't the dealership because they only drove it a couple miles to fill the tank with gas. So somewhere between Mexico and my dealership somebody put about 45 mi on it. At least you had an explanation as to why. I still have no idea why.
Some vehicles are pulled at the plant for random testing, these get a small sticker put on the window saying Ford did this. The people detailing don't necessarily see the importance of it and throw it when cleaning vehicle for delivery. just one possible explaination.

Pretty sure your warranty starts at the number of miles it had when you took possession, not zero. The number of miles should be noted on your paperwork. And I'd rather they found and fixed an issue during dealer prep than after I took delivery.

My CEL was on when it came off the truck. They fixed it but put a few more miles on it to make sure it didn't turn back on. Not THAT many miles though. It's possible they were being evasive, or it's possible the service guy just didn't tell the salesperson until they asked. Be vigilant but don't jump to conclusions.

People like, chicken little all scurrying around, the sky is falling!!!!
The things people worry about amazes me.
Relax or die of heart disease, jeez o Pete!
You go through life like this and you won’t have a long healthy life I guarantee it.

Bought my 2024 on 12/31/24.
It had 3.4 miles on it.
Wassat, ?
Plant to train to truck then into dealers lot. I don’t know or care.

Personally I’d have turned down anything above 20 miles.
