Is your dealer a small dealership? Of the various Maverick issues, the battery issue is the most prevalent (of course, Ford corporate is in denial...although they did go to an AGM battery for the MY25).

I tried to get an AGM when my battery problems started. Even said I would pay the difference, dealer said it had to be replaced with what came in the truck to be covered under warranty. Now the replacement battery has a 3yr/36,000 warranty.

Its simple. Either your dealer is a very very small used car dealership and has not experienced the issue since they only sold one or two Mavs, or they are lying. Its really hard to believe that they know nothing about it when the same issue also exists on the Bronco Sports, Escapes, F150s and Corsairs. There is not much in the current Ford lineup that is not showing up with a battery management issue.

Majority of dealers hate warranty work. I'm not surprised. They would rather charge Bob their $150/hr+ rate , premium on parts for non warranty work than get whatever Ford pays them.

Wouldn't be surprised if most service advisors also work on commission.

Just wait for the fix. Should be here soon and in the meantime ask your dealer to perhaps check Oasis or Fords PUBLIC bulletin for nearly all TSBs!

I notified my dealer of the battery issue and recent battery saver mode notifications resulting from over night resting state of 11.7V. I asked about an AGM replacement and was told NO. Only replacing a bad battery with the original flooded battery. I said thank you, since that is not a fix, and ordered an AGM myself. If there is ever a recall, I will reinstall the old battery to get it replaced.

Quite simply, they are claiming ignorance so they don't have to deal with a problem they know they can't rectify. And, the dealership doesn't get paid for warranty work that does not result in a fix. But they will not admit that unless you press them.

Just how does one “push the dealer” to give an AGM, instead of a conventional lead/acid?
Plead? Beg? Put him up against the wall?
He has the final say.
Seems that there are some dealerships that are amenable, and some that are less so.
How does one convince him to do one’s (seemingly reasonable) bidding?

Explain to them that 2025s come with a 50ah AGM and the BCM is actually programmed for an AGM battery.

Worst they can do is say no. Had I owned a 22-24 hybrid I would have already replaced it with the larger capacity AGM on my own dime.

If your dealer's lips are moving, it's a pretty good indication that he is lying to you.

The replacement with an AGM and reprogramming the BCM is alone not likely going to solve the issue. If you read the description of the charging circuit for the Maverick it is only a trickle charger. Seems that they will need to replace equipment rather than just something as simple as reprogramming. If that were the case, why hasn't this happened in the 2022 and 2023 model years? This problem has been known for a very long time.
