I bought a 2002 Toyota Tundra. It has 185,000 miles on it and runs perfectly to this day. The Ford Maverick I bought, 2024, would never start. Got rid of it.
That's not a lot of miles on a much bigger and heavier-duty truck, so you're not comparing apples to apples. However, I had an 87 Ford Ranger that had 744k on it with only $2k in maintenance. I had an 08 Ranger that I sold with 180k on it and no maintenance costs other than tires and brakes. My current Mav gets 60mpg instead of the real-world 12mpg that your Tundra gets. All the Tundras built in the last 6 years are getting whole-engine replacements under a recall right now, due to extremely poor product quality. I fully expect my Mav to get to at least 250k before needing anything serious, and a 12V battery is pretty trivial.

My Mav wouldn't start and I live 50 miles from town. That was not trivial.

It started at the dealership, I would get it home and the next morning it wouldn't start. I would have to call my son, if he wasn't at work and he would come over and jump it, and I would drive it back to the dealership. It was a royal pain in the ass.

How one could lose 8 grand on a '24 I'll likely never understand. But anyway, everyone at one time or another if you live long enough, will have a bad experience that will flip your switch forever. I totally get that. But you kind of poked a stick at the hornets nest and you're going to have to deal with some flack.

I paid 28K for the new truck. Car Max offered 25K for it but I was afraid of that because I knew something was wrong with it. A guy offered 20K and I took it. So call me stupid if you want. The dealer just did the stall and foot drag.

If I lived 50 miles out of town no matter how reliable my vehicle was I would own a jump box. I live in a city and I have a jump box and it has jumped over a dozen vehicles in the last year just never my Hybrid Maverick to this date… (touch wood)!

When I had my Hondas I never needed a jump. Never. In hindsight, I was not prepared.

I and others would have had some other suggestions for you but what is done is done. Good luck in the future.

If the recall included the 2025 MY then they wouldn't deliver the trucks.

They are delivering 2025 MY trucks while earlier models are being held.
What is this recall ?

There is a recall for backup cameras and there is NOT a recall on battery drain as of today.

Another informed maverick owner :cwl:

I think you have a valid concern. Since my install (about two months ago) of an AGM battery in my 2022 Lariat hybrid, I've had no issues. Most of the issues with the OEM flooded battery did not appear until 3, 4 months or longer after purchase, so I'm thinking it might be several months before anyone can made a judgement on the 2025's.
I think that the 12v battery problem (apparently only for quite a few of us) is the wrong battery complicated by one or possibly several failures of different items. I expect the 25 fix to include a new battery plus reprogramming to help dealers diagnose and fix issues. The 2025 has the new battery.....plus ???

My dealer did not really know what the problem was or how to fix it. Finally they said, it is a computer problem that Ford will fix in 2025. Pretty weak tea for me.

I bought a new Ford Maverick and I would go out and it wouldn't start. I would take it to the dealer, they would mess with, I would take it back and it wouldn't start. I did that several times, finally I got rid of it. Before that I had three Honda CRVs that I drove each for 250,000 with no trouble. I do not drive a Ford anymore and will never drive one again.
Then you are miserable to continue to visit a forum and complain about a vehicle.

Be happier, Richard.
