My mare is injured and on stall rest, so I need some square bales to feed (she's usually on pasture with round bales).
I picked up 15 bales from my hay guy, and drove ~30 miles to the horse farm. Bales weigh 50-60lbs each, so in the 750-900lb range for total load.
She handled it well! No extra sway/swing in the back end. Still good acceleration and braking, though my MPGs took a hit.

First time I have seen my exact build on the forum! Thanks for the sneak peek. Good luck with your horse's healing.

Since everyone else seems to want truck photos, I'd like to see a picture of your mare. 😊
Raven and I in warmer weather. The woman who gave/dumped her with me said she's a mustang, though she's not branded. Took a couple years of rehab and conditioning, but she became a great riding horse!

This is what she looked like to start. I'm pretty proud of the changes she made with good handling and training.

It must be so cool to own a horse. One of the first things I will get when my money tree in the backyard gets going.

Raven is a fine looking mare. I've been hauling small bales of second cut grass hay for local dairyman who supplies me with first cut for my donkeys. Loading same number of bales(15), and find my XL handles just fine. Lucky for me, farm community here, distance from my farm to farm with second cut for sale to dairy for drop off totals less than five miles. Fun drive, all great folks, lots of livestock and poultry to admire-donks, cows. pigs. goats. chickens, peacocks, and more! Hope Raven heals up fast. Nice pictures, thanks.

Raven shares a pasture with two donkeys and a few horses. The donks are such characters! I just love them.

Been raising miniature donkeys since 1987- always nice to run across another donkey lover. Have been thinking about getting a horse, not sure I'm ready to learn ins and outs of horse care, tack, and so forth, but riding sure is a pleasure. Should probably teach a donk to pull a cart first.

Very nice! IS looks so great on this truck with those wheels. Probably the second best color behind VB.

Here's our two characters, they are always photo-bombing when I'm trying to take pictures of the horses, lol
