I woke up to loud knocks at my door at 2:50 am this past Monday morning. It was my property manager letting me know some jackass had been driving erratically through the complex. He managed to hit the curb on the opposite side of the street then bounce over to the side I was parked on. He hit me hard enough to twist my truck in its parking spot to being anything but strait. His passenger curtain airbag deployed and the wheel on that side was toast from hitting the curb. I was livid when I found out he didn't have insurance, thinking I'm going to have to eat my entire repair.
After he was towed away I was able to see the damage. I was shocked how minor it was. The hitch got marred up a bit and the hitch cover was toast. There were a few light scuffs on the bumper. Today, I had a body shop put it on a lift and checked for any frame damage and they said everything measured perfectly.
Talk about a one and a million chance that I was hit where I was. I purchased a slightly bigger target for someone to hit in case something like this happens again.
9/4/25 Update:
I ended up getting it repaired. Although it didn't look like a ton of damage, things added up quickly to the tune of $4750. My normal collision deductible is $1,000 but it drops to $500 for an uninsured motorist claim and drops even further to $200 if there is a police report in the state of Oregon, which there was. I am happy to have her back.
