Just added some new hiking boots to my XL Hybrid. Wheels are 17x8 LP5 from LPAventure and Firestone sent me a set of 245/65/17 Destination A/T2s to try out on them. I will be adding a 1" leveling kit from Zone Offroad here in the coming week. The point is NOT to make it a Raptor or a Tremor but to increase its grip and ground clearance off the pavement as much as reasonably possible for a Hybrid - to see what can be achieved to make it better for camping and exploring.

I will be doing a complete video on the whole makeover that includes a number of other mods that have been done this spring with some observations on handling on and off the pavement as well as mpg changes.

Dayum. Those really look good. I am anxiously awaiting your results with this combination.

That’s why I like your threads and reviews.

Too many other posters show us their mods but have no idea what the repercussions are, probably never thought about it, and couldn’t formulate, let alone articulate, any meaningful information for the readers.
They just want to show us their awesome stuff.

OK, now I will talk slowly… for those who's eyes glossed over.

You will tell us what the mpg differences are, before and after.
You will report on any acceleration performance differences.
You will let us know about any handling differences, good or bad.
You will report any rubbing issues.

This is information we can use.

Thank you.

Great looking truck! Question based on my limited knowledge of the differences between trim levels: The black fender trims . . . stock or did you add them?

Beautiful looking truck. My favorite of all the mods is the raised white letter tires. I absolutely love that look on a truck.

I bought some Firestone tires for my 89 Mustang 5.0 ex State Patrol what a difference in ride and handling was money well spent. I know not the same tire just my exp with the brand.

I've got a Tremor (shipped), but I still like these hybrid builds with off-roady tires and a little off road stance. All the looks with still the mpg benefits of the hybrid. I got a Tremor because I like the look and I plan to do dumb stuff in it though 😁.

Good looking wheels. May dog down the mpg some.

 Those rims really dress up the XL. Have the Firestone Destination M/T 2 on my Gladiator and they been a great tire and got us through a number of bad weather events. (y)
