Has to be pretty steep if they are offering a $250 discount.

For anyone in Ohio, I’ll teach you towing basics while we split a case of beer.

I get that some people are not the brightest, but a $495 towing class? Really? I was 16 towing 35' trailers back and forth to Texas with my brother.

Yeah, but not everyone has had the opportunities we had. My folks were poor and the family chased work at times... Result was we grew up under a variety of conditions and as a boy, I experienced a variety of things. I too had the priviledge of learning to hook-up, back-up, and haul grain trailers (sometimes tandem) with an IH FarmAll at 14 years old when we enjoyed The Good Life (some will get that reference). My two younger brothers, both in their 40s, have never owned a pickup truck, nor towed anything. Go figure?

With folks spending $1800+ on carbon fibre bicycles, the value of money and things is all over the place nowadays. Hard to say what's value anymore. Perhaps $495 is cheap to give folks a basic skill, confidence to execute and prevent major disasters.

I'm sure a few people with limited common sense will gain great knowledge from a towing class. No one taught me how to tow cars either, but I owned a towing company for 23 years without any accidents or claims.

Well there is that demographic as well, which is the fastest growing segment of our population.

I've always been too dumb to be afraid to learn or try anything that seemed to have practical value for me.... but that doesn't describe most people nowadays. Many won't feel qualified to tow something until Ford gives them a little certificate to pin on the fridge ($495 price - $250 coupon, so $245 really for those who take advantage of the deal).

Ahh! Yes! I live in Texas and have made many iron, pottery, and misc import trailer runs to Laredo. A $250 candelabra in DFW cost $12-$20 IN Laredo. Once when I was watching my trailer being loaded some dude from Minnesota had flown down to Laredo. He had a deal with a truck rental company to pickup a 26 foot bobtail plus a 20-24' box trailer and drive it back all he had to do was buy the Diesel as rental trucks were piling up in Laredo due to exporting one way runs to Mexico. He was making a restock run for his family import store. In any case your brother may have saved you from destroying a rig! $495 could be super cheap!

I don't think the ability to tow is based necessarily on high intelligence. I know some people who are very good at it who I would be shocked if they approach triple digits in the old IQ class. It's more about experience. Like if somebody is 60 years old and never really towed an rv, just retired and are starting to do so I could see it. Maybe that guy was a neurosurgeon..... In my experience smarter people tend to admit more readily that they don't know stuff. People who are less intelligent do the opposite

I'd say those with limited common sense is running neck and neck with bitter old guys, well ones a growing segment but I guess the other one is more of a shrinking segment eh?
I've towed stuff at work over the years but many people don't have that type of stuff in their job or their personal life growing up. But you know if it makes people feel good to mock those who are willing to admit they don't know when they want to learn something then whatever works....
