I ordered my Hybrid Lariat on 7-19-2021 and took delivery on 3-25-2022. My dealer, El Cajon Ford, told me I was entitled to a price protection refund for the difference between the MSRP on my original order sheet and the increased MSRP on the window sticker at the time of delivery. However, due to problems they have been having with Ford's interpretations of who is entitled to price protection, and the amounts thereof, particularly concerning Broncos, they wait until Ford has refunded the appropriate amount to them before reimbursing the customer. Have others been in a similar situation with their dealer, and if so how long did it take for Ford to honor the price protection?

Nope. My dealer pulled out the DORA we both signed in June of 21 and that is what I paid. No rebates.

My dealer (leonardtown ford) honored all price and financing rate protections and got ford to honor a expired $750.00 off coupon that was found in my Vincent. Like Ford and all dealers (except @fordvideoguy ) they need lessons on communication but Leonardtown Ford is honest and trustworthy.

It can take Ford months to pay the price protection difference. Ford is supposed to pay it around "45 days" after the vehicle is reported sold. The automatic price protection doesn't always work like it should (at our dealership). We don't always get the amount expected.

But your dealer should have gotten whatever price protection amount they/you were owed sometime in May. So do check back with them.

I was charged over the agreed upon price which I have paperwork for. I think it was approximately $1500 ish but since I'd waited so long for it to arrive and I was stoked to finally have it I gave in. To add insult to injury though upon the dealer's initial inspection of the vehicle, taking it out of storage mode, etc. they found an issue with the infotainment system and it's been sitting unfixed in their lot for over a month now. I haven't even taken it home yet.

Thanks for your reply. It's good to have it confirmed that it isn't just my dealer playing games. In your experience, has the price protection covered the Lux package, Co-pilot 360, and other options?

Ordered 7/9/21 and picked up 5/16/22. My dealer had taken care of all that before I even got in there. Protected price and interest rates.

You're welcome. I don't really deal with that end of things... So I am not sure of the details. But I do think that it should.

The complicating factor is that Ford pays the dealership the difference in the invoice, not MSRP or plan prices. The confusion on the dealerships end maybe that the difference in MSRP is "550. But the difference in invoice is $495. (I'm just making up numbers). So they aren't getting exactly what they expect to get (based on the additional discount given to the customer). I imagine it is a bit of a nightmare on the accounting end to keep track of all that.

I attended a Ford webinar last week, and they acknowledged the confusion about price protection on the dealerships end. Dealers want it more clear exactly what price protection refund they will be given for a particular vehicle. Ford is supposed to be working on something.

Based on the info that I can dig up on price protection, the base price, options, and destination and delivery are all price protected. So yes, the Lux & Co-Pilot 360 should be price protected. Changes in the gasoline charge are not protected (but this only affects the invoice price, not MSRP).

I don't know what your agreement with your dealer is..... but Ford should be automatically reimbursing them for the difference in the invoice prices for base vehicle + options + D&D.
Whether your dealer will be passing that on to you directly (which Ford does mention as an option for AZDX plans) or just giving you back the difference btw new and old MSRP, I don't know.

Hope that helps! And I hope you get something back!

Nope. I ordered on 8/26/21 and the truck arrived 5/27/22. Don Franklin Ford in Columbia, KY had the paperwork ready and it done up right with the original price honored, no questions.

Ordered my XLT Lux on 10/16/21 and received it 1/28/22. Gibbons Ford in NEPA knocked $600 off list and when it came in let me choose the financing rate I wanted. Good people there. 7K miles and no regrets. Ed

Still no word on my refund. Sent a polite email to my sales manager at El Cajon Ford two weeks ago requesting an update. No reply has been received.

I still am not sure why, but my dealer (Spirit Ford, Dundee, MI) was super about price protection. I ordered August 2021, put no money down. I got a little nervous a few months later, and via emails confirmed that the price is the price. As I've said in another thread, the only thing different was they put on locking lug nuts and charged a couple hundred bucks for that.
I was also lucky I went to my credit union and got pre-approved in mid-may at 1.99%, and by the time I picked up my truck May31st, the interest rate had gone up to 2.25% or so... but my CU honored the 1.99.
I have ZERO to complain about, but I still think it might have been because I kept in communication with them throughout the process... maybe??
