The "cloth" of most vehicles are synthetic plastics too, typically polyester. The "Active-X" material would be great if it were just ventilated. Actively cooled would be even better. It's easier to clean up messes on the Active-X seats, properly cleaning cloth takes a bristle brush, degreaser/soap, and steam cleaner. The Active-X can be cleaned with a damp cloth, soap optional.

There was a reddit post where someone spilled an entire tub of vaseline on their cloth seat and the general recommendation was to just get a new seat at that point.

For what we have, the "seat is too hot/cold" problem is solved by remote starting or just throwing a towel/blanket down if you're in a rush.

The seats in the lariat Maverick definitely aren't genuine leather.
If you want real leather in a Maverick you'll have to look it some quality brands like katskinz.

I had to move my '24 Lariat while i was working on it. I had a pair of 8 inch pliers, jaws down, in my right rear Levi's pocket. The pliers made a 1/32" hole through the seat cover. F_ck!! I have always preferred cloth seats but I wanted all the bells and whistles. I believe the cloth seats would have withstood the pliers in my jeans.
It's happened to me.
Chances are the pliers may have made a hole in the xlt's cloth seats, but probably wouldn't be as noticeable as in the ActiveX.

Ahh ok, yea don't think the rental had a turbo but still got up and went. The Malibu had cloth seats but my Impala did have the heated leather. Only part I miss is the heat lol but with cloth seats it really isn't necessary.
Seriously, I was in danger of dozing off in the Impala - scary.

I like the cloth seats a lot, but I'm a sucker for heated cloth for winter use (it's not widely available). My main complaint is that if you do something sweaty they soak up the smell. I got some temporary slip over covers for when I finish with my hikes.

My Mustang has black leather and I like them a lot, but they get pretty toasty in the sun, lol. I probably wouldn't mind the ActiveX seats overall but I did save a lot of money not going for the Lariat so it's not a big loss for me.

I do overnight sanitation so I'm usually wet and sweaty at the end of a shift. I use one of my girl's plush bath towels to cover my seat after work. And yes, she knows lol! Love my cloth seats but being only just over a year old don't want them all crappy already. And certainly don't want to clean them constantly...should see the bugs I have from driving at night 😳 I've gotten the camera warning that it needs to be clean a few times now 🤷‍♂️

Bath towel is a nice free option, I recommend these if you have a few extra dollars though: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DP4GGL13?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

It stays on the seat really well and has a nice feel to it, plus it absorbs water and other nastiness and can be tossed in the laundry like any other towel.

I hate cleaning bugs off the front, its easiest when they're fresh but 9/10 times you're too tired to do anything about it until they've turned to concrete from the sun lmao

Nice! Will definitely have to get one of those. Thanks for the link 👍
Yea cleaning bugs is the worse. So true too lol! I might stay up and get it done this morning, we'll see 🥱 not to mention something about the Maverick, seems like the hardest vehicle I've had to clean bugs off from. And I use to detail for a living 😄

It's the damn headlights and grille design, it has so many nooks and crannies for bugs to get into, lol. Beyond that it's all about how often you wash and what wax product you use. That determines how long before the concrete sets.... I have great success with this. I also used to detail but I've backed it down to simple products and low effort/time methods that aim for 90% clean. https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-G19...839278&sprefix=meguiars+h,aps,245&sr=8-1&th=1

Carhartt canvas seat covers in black are on mine. Very breathable, works great with my heated seats. Tough as ell’
Gotta keep the seats nice for better trade in value.

Yeah, for those of you who keep a tub of Vaseline tipped over in your seat on a hot day, I would definitely recommend ActiveX over cloth. :ROFLMAO:

Haha you ain't kidding about the crevices! I use Meguiars as well but haven't tried that product. Currently using a polymeric shield called Vitreo. Easy on and easy off, nice protection but only have waxed it twice since last year. Probably part of the problem.
