I generated a PIN for x plan and they told me that I can't stack price protection and x-plan. The price protection I have is for $500, so maybe he is lying to me?

Is it up to the dealer if they want to accept xplan on this custom order Maverick or can I call Ford corporate?

Like you said maybe they can choose whether they will accept xplan though.
X-plan stops you from getting Farm Bureau $500 discount as they cannot both be applied (See the Farm Bureau discount note on Ford.com) ...but I do not think X-Plan has anything to do with price protection based on order date. Lots of info here on Price Protection.

Yes, X-Plan is completely voluntary on the dealer's part. It was the first question I asked before I ordered. My dealer agreed to it and said they'd never done one before. I wanted to nix their usual $599 DOC fee and a $1000 "custom order fee" that they try to get from gullible buyers. I did it because while X-Plan only saved me about $850 and was documented clearly on the DORA I signed, it also showed the $100 DOC fee. I just didn't want to leave anything to negotiation. They honored it all when the truck came in in March 2023.

I took out a 4.74% 60 month loan (Navy Federal Credit Union) because at about the same time, I opened a 5.10% savings account instead of paying cash for the truck. Savings interest (and CDs) are still climbing.

I'm going to call my local tag agency and see if I can do anything about the electronic filing and registration fees. Thank you.
I bought several cars in FL and from FL. When dealers over charged government fees, I always got refund in the mail.

Electronic filling fee is a dealer service fee (paid to a third party). There was no refund on that part and I always had to pay the fee plus dealer fee. There was no room for negotiation. When the dealer said floor mat set was a must, I was so loud and told the manager that it was stupid and walked. I bought a car and I did not have to take the cheap floor mats at the end.

The "dealer fee" is common where I am from, and usually in the $599-699 range (my Ford dealer for some reason was only charging $325). So $995 seems high, but is it really high for Florida? If you are only paying MSRP plus the usual fees, that's a win.

Dealer fee is likely a nonstarter for the dealership and that will vary by dealership. Mine doesn't charge a doc fee of any kind, but they push the ESPs hard.

I would hem and haw to get them to take it off. If they don’t, I would still take it but leave them a bad review. They want you to not take it.

Sssssssshhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeee_sssuuussshhh that AWD option is expensive.

My dealer had a $498 Doc (document) fee, but they tell you that up front when you order. They'll say, if you don't like it go to another dealership. Almost all have a doc fee here. Some are $300 some are $500. There's some rare dealerships that do not.

This is my XL & my wife's XLT order. Both hybrids.

The xl is using the XLT's registration cost in its total.

Take it home.

Many years ago I was complaining to my eighty-something next door neighbor about the price of an item. She was a wonderful woman from Naples and never mastered English.

Her response when I finished:

”justa pay and shutta up.”

I believe that applies here. Sign the papers and take your truck and enjoy. It’s not a bad deal in todays market.

My order came in after 10 months, should I accept it even with $995 dealer fee? They wont budge on it. They tried to pressure me into financing but I can buy it outright, added both contracts if you'd like to see.

Thanks!

Yes, I would. If you are buying for MSRP you are doing great. I am in Ill and I had to pay dealer 10% over MSRP for starts. Also our dealer fees added up to over $1200 If you want a Mavrick I would buy it. Then go home and have a cold adult drink and enjoy the truck.

I will try negotiating taking the financing if they reduce the dealer fee. They do have a small fee for paying it off before 6 months. What's the difference between paying it off immediately and just buying it outright with cash? See attached fee for early payment.

Paying it off almost immediately and just taking the small hit of $75 seems like a good compromise, if you are able to save on the $995 dealer fee. I would just double-check what other upfront charges you have to pay for the financing it though.

I also live in FL, and just took delivery of my Mav almost 3 weeks ago. I had to specifically ask for the price protection, but in the end, my dealer honored the private offer ($2750 for Hybrid) and played with the X-plan to secure price protection from Feb 2023 price increase.

And here's what I found. The X-plan is not just about discount against MSRP. It provides discount also on other dealer fees that are added at the time of delivery. In the end, I paid in total $225 for predelivery service charge, electronic registration filing fee, new tire fee and registration and titling fees. Maybe I saved some $ because I treaded in my old car, but their original quote was close to $600 for the same fees.

I wish you the best with your negotiation!!

Those fees are in line with what most dealerships charge nowadays. I would pay it. I would also recommend just buying it outright and avoid the $1,800 that you would be paying in interest if you financed.
