Perhaps for those who have waited, Ford could give them three shares of stock, about Fifty dollars at today's stock price. This would give the person a sense of Ford ownership and reduce complaints because no one usually complains about something in which they have ownership. Recipient would be required to hold the stock until receipt of Maverick or one year; whichever came first!!!!

What if you don’t take delivery? They’re out 100 bucks.
Same as the Fits Kit, the Guy/Girl or human that finally buys the car gets both on delivery.

I hope they extend the $750 mailer so I can use it. Current one expires 4/4/22.

Brilliant marketing strategy actually. Heavily advertise an affordable, gas efficient vehicle. Many people will want one. So many that you can justify charging 20% or more over MSRP when there are constraints to actually producing those vehicles. Like all good American consumers, we want what we can't have so people paying luxury vehicle prices for that "affordable small pick up" .
Ford doesn't get a penny of that 20% over MSRP that you refer to. I'm sure the dealer getting 20% over MSRP is making about 10X the profit that Ford is making on that vehicle.

Ford customers are pissed and are blaming Ford for the price gouging, even though they aren't responsible for the practice and are not benefiting from it. I doubt very much that Ford views the situation as "brilliant marketing."

I actually don't hate this idea. It's definitely better than what alot of the people on this thread are suggesting. It was starting to look like an entitled snowflake thread till I came across this thread. Everyone else.....gimme my 100....gimme this, gimme that...I deserve...I deserve.....

I agree that the situation we are now facing is not the result of "brilliant market strategy. I do not even think the limited supply, which is driving up prices, was at all any kind of strategy. The limited supply is mostly due to supply constraints. However, the markups are coming on units that were retail. What influenced some to cancel their orders?? In some case, people needed a new vehicle and could not wait. However, I do think the lack of Ford communication led to numerous cancellations because buyers simply felt they were pawns because they could not get information upon which to make decisions. Those units were marked up and that was due to Ford lack of communication.

It seems to me, and I am not privy to legal contracts between Ford and dealerships, that Ford has the ultimate hammer to reduce dishonest dealings. They control production and allocation of the item in short supply. Note, I did not say control mark up of prices, but dishonest business practices. It is hard to control the price of a limited item if it is sold in a fair and upright manner.

Ford would go bankrupt!!
This stock given to those with a wait far beyond what they anticipated or were told, would be almost microscopic compared to most annual Ford stock buy-backs. It would probably even result in more long term interest in the stock and these three share holders might even become future buyers, helping to keep up demand and, stock price.

Yeah the 10 billion Ford posted in 2021 profits can’t pay off the less 100k, $100 gift cards (10 million “value”). That only cost them $2 million. 😂

They are just going to raise prices a bit on everything to cover the freebies. We have been taught to take these "market adjustments" for many years now. The top executives for Ford or any other major company aren't hurting any, just the common folk. They could pay fair wages and produce these chips in the US but that would hurt their bottom line. So you will wait, pay the market adjustments and be grateful to give them your money. It's the American way.

Do you have any clue what it takes to build a microchip factory? There are several factories currently being built in the U.S. (Intel and TSMCS have invested billions), but production isn't expected to start until at least fall '23. It's just A TAD more complex than "corporate greed".

FWIW, I have a June order that has yet to be built. I expect nothing, these are unprecedented times and IMO the supply chain issues are probably going to get worse in the near future.

They aren't hurting from it. My local dealer dragged his feet on submitting my order and I ended up getting charged more than $1000 more MSRP for my January 4th order. That will be if I am lucky and even get a 2022 model. Prices went up before they had delivered 25% of their customer orders. The dealers make more money, they order more trucks and Ford makes more money. I have not seen them enact any rules or limitations on the price gouging. They do benefit from it or they'd have stopped it. Ford cut out 30,000 jobs in N America in the early 2000s because their profits were down, but the people in charge at Ford aren't choosing "gas or groceries" this week as many Americans are and they don't care if dealers are price gouging, as long as the media doesn't blame them.

  • Bill Ford at $16,046,542, down from $16.8 million in 2019.
  • Tim Stone, who was hired as chief financial officer in 2019, at $6,173,021. Farley on his first day as CEO announced Stone's departure. Stone was compensated $8.3 million in 2019, which included an $850,000 signing bonus and $692,652 for moving from California to Michigan.
  • John Lawler, who replaced Stone as CFO on Oct. 1, at $5,983,141.
  • Hau Thai-Tang, who was promoted from chief product development and purchasing officer to chief product platform and operations officer, at $11,780,405.
  • Kumar Galhotra, president of the Americas and International Markets Group, earned $8,534,094.

No, I don't really have a clue what that would entail but I do believe that we have the technology, intelligence and work force in N America and always have. They chose to get them elsewhere in the world because it cost them less to do it that way. The "supply chain" issues are political and yes, it all goes back to greed. "Can't live without cruise control". You can actually, most people in the world do, but I want it too. We're all guilty of it. I don't "need" this truck but I want it. For under $30K with luxury please.
