I actually like the choice of Maverick. A good friend hates it as he reminisces over the 70's car, but Maverick is way cooler than Courier. Per my teenage daughter, it doesn't even need a nickname since Maverick is cool.

As another poster stated, it also works with the equestrian/Western theme that Ford is using.

FYI, this is an F-53 incomplete motorhome chassis.

That's really interesting to see! I would've never guessed that was underneath that huge body! Thanks for posting it!

I have never really paid attention to the name of a vehicle unless they were really bad (Chevy’s two blunders with Celebrity and Citation come to mind- hilarious), but Courier is so un-inspiring…so unsexy. At least with Maverick people ask “really?” At the very least it inspires curiosity in anyone who was around when the cars were.

Should have called it a Ranger before giving the mid-size Ranger the name which that should be the F-100.
Oh, I absolutely agree with you about the Ranger being an F-100 instead!

I agree with this, Maverick fits better with Fords tendency to name things after western/ranch style things. In the end its just a name, if it gets me point A to B reliably and hauls what I need along the way that is all I really care about.
That is except the Ford Escort... Unless that is referring to western/ranch style call girl (Bunny Ranch Escort Girl?)

I guess they could have named it the "Chiclet Trucklette".

These people focus group everything. "Maverick" was obviously the name that scored the best with the demographic they were aiming at. Nothing less, nothing more.

Nah, it was truth in advertising, the tow truck escorted you to the shop.

Seems weird they brought a car name back instead of a trucks name.
I was thinking it was more of a Ranchero. Of course, I'm just gonna call it The Mav so that's not too bad.
