OK, I give up.
The consensus is to push the low button and I guess just before the guy behind you rams you because he's playing with his phone and you haven't activated your brake lights - then maybe hit your brake pedal.
Who said nobody presses the brake pedal? :ROFLMAO: I don't really use the low unless I need to make a fast stop, in combination withe the pedal it's really great. Very helpful if you have a sizable load in the bed.

After throwing it into low, they do.

It seems like a very high percentage of Mavericks are getting rear ended. Most of the accident posts here are about getting rear ended. I read an article recently about a huge salvage company somewhere in the Midwest that is buying up all the totaled Mavs and the majority have rear end damage. Certainly Idiots on cell phones and texting are a contributing factor but you would expect the rate to be the same as all vehicles. Idiots don t discriminate. So that can’t be the only reason
One thing I suspect with Hybrids is one pedal driving. Ford did not put a simple $25 part in the hybrids that would engage the brake lights when the vehicle is regen braking like most other hybrids and EV’s do. Maybe the NHTSA will pick up on this and order a recall.
Couple of questions for the group.
Of those that have been rear ended did to you replace the stock brake bulbs with brighter led’s like Lasfits?
If you are running the replacement LED’s do you think they make a difference?
Basicly, does anyone have any good ideas to prevent this?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
The only thing I see different on the Maverick from any other vehicles is the placement of the license plate. Drivers behind you may not be paying attention to you slowing down, while staring at a plate on the "Right Side" of the bumper, all other vehicles (trailers. motor cycles, campers) have there off center plates on the "Left" side! This might be the reason we get hit.

Where is there any evidence that Mavericks incur a disproportionate amount of rear end collisions? Rear end collisions are an increasing fact of life as more drivers have their heads buried in their phones. It matters not what vehicle is in front.

Today during Intermittent rain showers, had three near rear end collisions by inattentive drivers. Two slid within inches of the Maverick prior to a full stop. The third was a police vehicle whereby the officer (busy on her computer) swerved over the curb to avoid impact. Each event was recorded on the rear window camera. When I exited to confer with the officer, she reversed and sped off. Real classey.
I can hardly wait to receive a non answer to the complaint filed with her department as the desk officer did not want a copy of the video.

I wonder if while using the Adaptive Cruise control do the brake lights turn on then the cruise applies the brakes and I don't touch the pedal?
I don't see why?
unibody, built as one structure. No real frame rails.

body on frame, you can replace the bed and straighten the frame rails.

yes, any time the brake cylinder engages, you will get brake lights. (edit: I see you have an ecoboost. you can stop reading here if you like...)

with a hybrid, there is some threshold for the brake light not only with ACC, but also any time you're driving. when you lift off the gas in a hybrid, it could use regeneration at any time and the amount of regen power depends on several things but mainly how much % charge the high voltage battery has.

if it's not using much regeneration, the brake lamps won't illuminate. if the HV battery is low and you're going fairly fast, the regenerative braking can be strong and yes, absolutely, the brake lights will come on.

To me, pickups have a lack rear lighting. That's why I added the light bar and reflective strips

🤔 obviously they don't have their headlights/DRL'S on. 😆

Some will say, we need those on the back too.

How about this novel approach.
Drivers need to pull their heads out of their arse 🍑 put the ☎ phone down and start paying attention to their driving. You really aren't that important, that you need a phone in your hand while you're driving.
Trust me if you were that important you'd be sitting in the back seat and somebody else will be driving and it wouldn't be in a Maverick.

Everyone (behind me) drives too close here in New Mexico on roads that are 45+ mph. The Pat D’Arco highway has tons of lights. It really is the driver’s responsibility behind you. Meanwhile- this does not help…

Come visit Eastern Massachusetts, where you can't see the hood of the vehicle of person's that's riding your ass. But will leave 3 car lengths between them and the car in front of them when in queue at Dunks.

I'm not sure if I shared this or not but someone rolled into me in a drive through a while back. No damage thankfully. But jeez man... pay attention people!

I'm glad I don't live in cities anymore, because the congestion up here on rural roads is bad enough. People drive like :poop: up here and when wrecks do happen, they are fatal. It's a weekly thing seeing something about an accident on the highway and then finding out a week later they died of their injuries.

Just slow tf down and pay attention! So much hurry. So much rage. And road rage is REALLY bad up here.
