Compared to the Sync4 CarPlay experience on my 2025 Maverick, you might as well be using Radio Shack TRS-80 (that's and old fn computer).
Sorry to go off topic, this remark made me LOL as I grew up using TRS-80's, they are how I first learned computer programming. When I got my Maverick, it struck me that the proportions of the screen/cubby combo were somewhat similar to the screen/disk drive setup of the TRS-80 Model II:

Imagine if the cubby had a 5 1/4" floppy drive, and we had to load "Ford Sync 0.01 for TRSDOS" every time we started the truck

I've added CarPlay to multiple older vehicles in my past. To me it is too important. Navigation, more time with my eyes on the road, and speed trap alerts justify every penny I've spent on it. In today's market, I would NOT buy a vehicle that didn't support it.

You may or may not have read that GM has gotten rid of Apple CarPlay and android auto in their Chevy line. I’m not sure about the other lines but I definitely know Chevy was affected. So I read an article this morning when I was eating breakfast that stated that Ford, Toyota, and Volvo are shortly to follow. The entire premise is that they are developing their own software within the vehicle to use. I’m not sure if that is a good idea. Many people like myself love Apple CarPlay. And there’s other people out there who like android auto. I’m not quite sure why you would chase people away getting rid of a feature that is so widely used and is beneficial. People like myself do not like to text and drive. There are some people out there that for some reason too, but I do not like to text and drive with my hands on the phone. I really enjoy CarPlay for the multitude of features that has whether it’s texting by voice, listening to music, using maps. Whatever it may be.

The question I have for you all is this. Is this a feature that you religiously use and would this be something that would affect your day-to-day life or is it something that you can deal without? Reading on the forums and reading from Chevy forums people have said hey all you have to do is buy an external Apple CarPlay screen. But for me that doesn’t seem conducive because now you’re spending money on an external stereo that you should not have to buy. I don’t see the benefit of this decision
I’m devoted to CarPlay. Much better than the systems that manufacturers put in their vehicles now, including my maverick. Ford should stick w the auto Manufacturing biz and leave the entertainment software biz to companies that have been in it for years. No CarPlay is a deal breaker for me.

My favorite thing about Apple CarPlay was how universal it was. No matter what I car I was in, the system felt familiar and it was a breeze to connect. As someone who drives a lot of cars, that's really important.

I am looking back to find the article. I’ll find it in my viewing history.

But WHY would I start a thread asking about this topic if I didn’t read it?

Another self righteous Einstein who thinks he’s better than others
It's been 2 weeks. Still haven't found the article in your viewing history?

You started the thread because you're a troll.

I don't think I'm better than anyone, but you are a troll.

Yup, he made it up and now he's just going to ignore this thread. If you read the other threads he has started it's clear he's just a troll.

Its about the money. Already Ford is hawking their paid connection service. They give you a free trial with a new 2025 but then its a subscription fee. They know they can't sell this as well if their system allows you to use Apple or Google that offers the same for free. Always follow the money.
