A rubber mat covers the floor which gets the brunt of the wear. It's softer and more grip than either a spray in or drop in liner. $39 Home Depot.

It's a little big, so curls up the sides. I was going to trim it, but with time and use it's forming to bed quite nicely and also gives some protection for the wheel wells and front of the bed.
I did use points for the tailgate liner.
Also I have a hard tri-fold cover. If the bed is open and empty, wind will start lifting it.
