Have about 20 or so white marks on hood, about size of chicken pox.
Have trees in my assigned parking space in condo I live at over hanging the hood where marks are.
I wash weekly so they didn't occur over time.

Wash spots with soap in cool of day no help.
Tried vinegar 50% H20, no good,
Tried 70% rubbing alcohol; No good.
Tried plastic razon blade, I was careful. Still no good.
Friend said Mcquire clay and solution. Your thoughts?
I looked at cars beside mine in the parking lot under the tree. Their hoods didn't have marks.

Any other thoughts?

A clay bar does a great job, but if it is tree sap you should try to remove what you can though. A product that removes bugs and tar should do it. We went through some sort of flock of bugs on a road trip and the bumper and hood got plastered by them, the hotel had those complimentary makeup remover wipes and out of desperation I gave them a try, I was amazed at how well they removed the bugs and even a tar splat. Not sure what was in them but they worked! I have heard hand sanitizer works well too, haven't tried it yet though. Meguires makes some great polishing compounds, I use #2 which removes most spots, #4 for the tough stuff followed by #2,

I seconded the clay bar suggestion. Chemical guys has a good spray/bar combo.

Thank you for the info. I have removed tar and sap before and removed with baby oil. but this is more resistant. I tried compound/was turtle. No good.

Didn't know as you stated that compounds came in different grades #2 etc. thanks.

Hate to not be able to get it off. Its a 23 year maverick and don't know how much devalued trade value would be lowered to if buying a Nov. 2027 f maverick do to those spots. I have 11,300 on truck. Boy this bugs me.

I would try Turtle Wax Bug and Tar removal.
Worked great for bugs on the front of my Mav that were a week old. I tried other brands but they didn't work at all. Follow the directions leaving it sit for one minute and then wiping it off worked for me.

If you followed someone leaking brake fluid, that will do it and if it doesn't peel the paint it will bleach the color out

If it sap plain water no soap no nothing, I keep a spray bottle of water in my truck for that reason, it also helps if you have a few coats of ceramic wax 18 bucks nothing sticks to it.
