How to protect while waiting for paint?

Found a small rock chip about a week and a half ago.
Ordered a touch up pen that was estimated to arrive last Friday but now is on backorder.
New estimate is Aug 31st availability + shipping time before paint arrives.

Should I do anything to protect the chipped area before the touch up paint gets here?

As long as you can't see metal in the chip should not be a issue. Or just put some tape over the chip til paint comes. If a deep chip, I'd use an artist's brush to paint on a rust retardant primer.

Go to Walmart and find fingernail polish that is close in color to protect it until you get the proper color.
