Thank you "commodoreBob" for posting the video. 🤝

Well what do you think about commodore Bob's video??
I'm doing the playback on an Android phone and it's hard to tell. The first part of the tailgate opening seems kind of stop action on my phone.
It appears to be somewhat slower than my rough country but I don’t know if it’s enough difference to switch it out 🤷🏼‍♂️
FWIW, I had to make an effort to move my hand fast enough to get it out of the way for the video to show it completely under load of the DeeZee. When I normally open it, it doesn't ever feel like it is falling on my hands. By the time I pull the handle, pull the gate, let go of the handle, and move my hand, the DeeZee has already slowed it down.

It was a great video I was able to compare it to my Rough Country Strut - thank you

For what it's worth to add to the conversation, I had read about potential issues w/ the support cable being damaged by the strut so I decided to odd one of these clips. They're cheap and even come two to a pack. it certainly does help to keep the cable lined up and out of harm.

I haven’t looked into it maybe someone knows the answer. Has anyone investigated adding a tailgate assist strut to each side?

It has nothing to do with weight. Try to open your mind and understand that.
AMEN! It isn't the weight of the drop it's the speed of the drop!

I think I read in an earlier thread.
They don't make attaching brackets for the passenger side, only the driver side.

Really no need, I put a DEE ZEE made for the F150 for a friend and it looked the same as the Maverick, the F 150 tailgate must have weighed 2x the Maverick

And remember these drops slower in colder temperatures versus the warmer weather. When it was 8° out mine took forever to come down versus 74° today. They work the same on my f-150s as they do on the Maverick, no difference with the weight of the tailgate.

Slow in the winter, twice as fast in the summer.

I just opened my mind. Note, I did it without any type of mechanical assist and I did not "drop" the subject at hand.

If weight has nothing to do with it, please come and open and lower the tailgate on my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500!!! Just saying, it seems like it does..........................

Weight has something to do whether I think it is necessary to have a tailgate assist or not!

I put on a cheap one (see my earlier post). I have a toilet seat that comes down slowly, seat and lid. I put one on my F250 that falls pretty fast. I have never intentionally dropped a tail gate. I have lost my grip and dropped them a few times, and that makes me crazy. I have had other people drop my tailgate and let if bang away, that makes me angry. I don't abuse machinery. The Mav doesn't bang, my toilet doesn't bang, the F250 comes down fairly quickly, but it doesn't bang which is my preference. I am no longer crazy or angry.😀

To me, it just feels more refined with the slower lowering. Is it a placebo? Absolutely. But it feels like a nicer truck having the tailgate assist installed.

🤣🤣🤣 I never thought about it.
Our toilet seats are all soft close and they damn sure are lighter than the Maverick's tailgate.

This is how my DeeZee works as well. Seems just right to me. And yes it is a slower drop when it is cold.
To be clear, it was in the mid-60s here when I took the video.

And keep in mind there is going to be a small amount of "free fall" all assist devices will have before the gate hits an angle where the piston actually moves. From my experience, I'm usually not moving my hand away from the truck fast enough to allow a full free fall before the piston activates.
