Plenty of threads about the mechanics of the tailgate assist, but which tailgate is best; best quality build, will hold up the longest, has the strongest strut?
Looking over all the threads (also going down some rabbit holes), there are several different manufacturers. Are they all the same (Dee Zee, Rough Country, Real Truck, Azana, Ford, etc), just rebranded or are there major differences?

DEE ZEE all the way ! Have tried others and they do not hold up.

Plus, when I had a strut failure on a 2022, they did not just send me the strut, they sent me an entire new package. Great customer service !

Dee Zee is the best because of warranty and service but all these gas struts probably come out of the same few factories in China.
I'm torn between spending twice as much and being confident I'll never have a problem or saving money and probably never having a problem.

Absolutely.
The reason the "brand names" cost more, is to cover the better warranty. 🤣

Even customizers don't want to hear the bang of a dropped tailgate.
Long live the tailgate strut.

I had the deezee in my 22, bought a $18 Chinese one for the old F150 and didn’t like it. Older friend bought an off brand one for his much newer f150 and it worked fine, so that’s what I went with on my 25. Guessing tailgate weight is why the cheaper ones don’t work as well. My f150 one drops quick about 1/4 the way before it starts to slow, friends 150 doesn’t do that. I got this one for my 25:

I got the very same one as @Don806 ⬆ above ⬆ and have been very happy w/ it. The pieces/parts are substantial and well-made, it works well, and I appreciate the mounting plates being black rather than bare metal. It wasn't the cheapest one available but was far less than the more expensive units.

I bought Dee Zee, but wouldn't be surprised at all if if failed down the road. Many of these (even factory OEMs) eventually have strut failure on various vehicles. Even if they fail, the strut can be easily replaced.

Too early to tell which ones will hold up the longest. The Maverick hasn't been around very long.

The Dee Zee strut was the third thing I bought for Blu. (The Shorty Attennie and Tonneau cover were 1st and 2nd.)
780 days later, it still working...

I chose the rough country although they all look the same to me except the writing on the side

I installed one from Amazon it works. Lately the OEM cable has been catching the top part of the strut and I have to lift the gate a little and fick the cable past it. It might be that I am holding my mouth wrong when I unleash the tailgate.
