Wheel Well Damage

This is for those debating to install or not install wheel well lip molding/protection.

I always park well beyond all the other cars in a parking lot to avoid door dings and such. No matter how hard I try, I get dinged. I wish I would have had some form of protection. It may have protected or minimized the damage shown in the picture.

I feel your frustration. I park far and I try to get an end spot. Nine times out of ten, a big 4x4 truck always parks next to me, completely blocking out any vision when I try to drive away. And, their darn truck is so big, I know they exited their Semi using the passenger door because I could barely get in my drivers door.

Honestly - I'm too old to not speak up now. If someone pulls the urinal move (or worse a stall when dropping a deuce) I will let an audible "what the f*ck!"

I just adjust aim and pressure for maximum splatter.

You can still install the protection to cover this area. Just protect it from rusting first. It should hide the damage.

I know some do it on purpose. They see that you're going to great lengths to protect it and perceive you as being too obsessive. So they decide to troll and park right on top of you just to get you triggered. And it's typically done in a big, lifted brodozer or some p.o.s. rust bucket. It also seems like a form of jealousy. It's like they're saying, "Must be nice to have a shiny, new car. I'm gonna park right on top of them and ding their door so we all have to suffer!" Like others have mentioned, no matter how far away you park, no matter how good you are at parking, someone has to come in and f*** it up for everybody.

Thankfully in my case, my truck already had some light damage from transit such as a paint chip on the driver rear door, a nail scratch on the driver's door panel and some light scratches on the rear bumper guards so I'm not totally obsessing over it. I'm not afraid to park it with everybody else but I still choose to park a little farther just for more exercise and to prevent any further damage. Paint chips, I can tolerate since they're inevitable with everyday use but door dings are the worst and can be avoided. Door dings are what age the look of a car i.m.o.

Had a neighbor repaint her 69 Mustang Mach 1 and on her first outing attended a car show. Unfortunately she stopped at a grocery afterwards. Despite carefully parking away from other cars, she returned to find a 4x4 blocking the driver door and discovered a sizable door ding. She drove away but remained close enough to observe the truck and called her boyfriend. He arrived , found the truck and broke every light and flattened the spare and two tires.

An extreme action but perhaps the 4x4 owner learned a lesson.

The other day me and the 'ol lady pull into Aldi and park back into a far-end row that was completely void of any other vehicle. Same with the row in front of us, very far away from the entrance... Here's comes a van full of kids with a donut on it and parks OVER THE LINE next to me. I immediately pulled out and went 4 spots over. I was going to say something but the Dad was immediately ushering his kids out of the back with his door swung wide open. I seriously almost screamed at the man. He had 2 empty rows and instead did what he did.
