Just my two cents, but I've always used the hazards button method on my Maverick and on several late-model Fords and Lincolns. It has worked for me every time.

The time it takes deflating each tire for the system to pick up sensor has varied, but I'd say it definitely takes longer than you'd think. Probably about 5 to 10 seconds per wheel.

It's also worth noting the truck needs to be not running, but with the ignition on. I'm glad to hear it's all working now, but it might worth a try again the next time you rotate the tires!

sorry that wasn't the case for me.........at first I thought everything was ok, as the tires all showed fine in the ford pass app and on the truck. Kept getting TPMS error (after driving more than around 20 miles) that would reset itself a while later, but the pressures never changed on the truck or the Fordpass app? I spoke with 3 different repair guys about it and they said the vehicle will need to be told it has new or different sensors installed, and also that they are in a new spot on the vehicle when you rotate tires. All 3 said the re-learn isn't as important during a rotation, but vehicle may show driver's side front being low when it might actually be driver's side rear that has the issue?
Same here. New wheels and snow tires from Discount Tire and they activated the sensors. I hit the 20 mile mark on the way home and got the TPMS system fault message. It reset overnight but the next time I drove it for at least 20 miles the same thing happened. I went back to DT and they checked the sensors (all good) and plugged into the Maverick to clear it and have it relearn the sensors. It didn’t work so my next stop is the Ford dealer unless anyone has another suggestion.

I bought one of those relearn tools from amazon for $20 and it works fine, just have to put the truck in learning mode after rotations and winter wheel swaps to get it working. Not so much a big deal after rotations, but without it the truck might show tire pressure off in the wrong wheel when you don’t do it

I tried getting the truck into learning mode but didn’t have any success. The instructions seem to be for a keyed ignition but I have a hybrid Lariat with push button start. What is the process with push button start?

Push button without foot on brake for accessory on or push button with foot on brake for "ready to drive" on.

Yes I realize that but the instructions earlier in this thread say to cycle between Off and Run. With a key Run = On mode and not accessory mode correct? So the push button has accessory and engine running modes but not really an On mode. I tried cycling between Off and accessory (foot off the brake) and couldn’t get it into learning mode.

You are most likely pushing button too rapidly. Watch for the green ready on dash to verify "On ModeRun" before you push button for off. Also give computer time to actually turn run off. I just have mine rotated at dealer with the works oil change. It's been 2.5 years since I practiced setting mine. In any case since I read here that they will set themselves just by driving 15-20 miles at up to 35-40 mph some. Also note that if you do the let air out in LF-RF-RR-LR order it must be driven a short distance to turn the TPMS monitors on from their battery save sleeping. Then the procedure has to be completed within 15 minutes before the monitors go to sleep again. They sleep to get 10 years 125,000 miles out of battery.

Thanks I’ll give it another try tomorrow.

If the sensors have addresses assigned to them, the truck will automatically find them. Not all sensors come with addresses. If not, they'll never work. Tell the tire dealer to assign addresses to the sensors. No need to take it to the dealer. Any competent tire shop can get the sensors working in 10 minutes.

Well I was never able to get my truck into learning mode so I made another trip to Discount Tire. Their attempt to reprogram failed so the tech said to come back and they would try another brand of sensors. I went back today expecting a wait while they pulled the wheels to replace the sensors but the tech came back and said he got the fault cleared and the old sensors working. Turns out he changed the frequency of the sensors and the truck finally picked them up. No issues on the drive home so I think I’m good at least until I swap out the winter wheels next March.
