As long as you change it regularly, unless you are going for heavy duty use or high performance applications, pretty much any mainstream brand that makes the factory spec is gonna work just fine.

Supertech full synthetic 0w20 fram oil filter. First change at 500 miles then every 5k on odometer.

Wal-Mart's super tech full synthetic. Oil is oil just like gasoline is gasoline. As long as it meets all API and SAE specs.

Has anyone found any oil that has the WSS-M2C961-A1 rating as listed in the Maverick manual?
I called Pennzoil and they said their products do not meet this requirement.
From what I see online even Motocraft oil does not.
I am looking for 5W-30

You will probably have to go to a 0W20 oil to find that spec since that is what Ford is recommending.

Been using Supertech Full Synthetic for a few years now in all my vehicles. Meets Dexos2. No need to spend extra on oils that do the same thing. Plus all the data compiled on BITOG shows great results.

My neighbor is a high end Porsche mechanic think 200k turbo charged cars ,he highly recommends this oil especially for the eco boost, not cheap but he says the best

I get your point but at the same time pennzoil 5w-30 is not ford approved, there must be a reason for that. I only buy pennzoil but will go with castrol edge for the mav.
