Ford used to put a photosensor in the dash to turn on AutoLamp. Block the light over it and see if autolamp turns your lights on.

I had read the entire owner's manual except for one page... thought that must have been the page where it explained what it was...but I couldn't remember what page I didn't read so I started reading it all over again... thanks for giving me my life back! joking.

Are you positive about that, in my photo one can see the wiper arm stops below the spot? Why is there a center stem rather than just a round dot?
