I have a 22 ecobost awd with the tow package. Got 6 k on her now and have always used the eco mode. I frive mostly on rural roads and highways. Very little city stop and go. Getting 29 mpg. Was wondering if eco mode is actually saving me anything? Wonder what others use.
I have a '22 ecoboost XL, my drive daily, 65% highway/35% country roads in northern NJ . I drive in normal mode pretty religiously. I'm getting 30.6 mpg and have 38000 miles on it now. When I occasionally use eco mode, my mpg"s never get better than normal, and actually have gone down a bit . This has just been my experience, no BS .

Are these figures all from the computer or are some of them verified by actual math? From what I have read on here, the computer is about 8 percent too high.
That may be true. But should be relatively to see the affects of the drive modes.

In the summer I average 32 , winter is around 29. I use the standard mode in summer haven't really experimented with any other except winter and rain I use slippery mode. I have 2022 lariat eco tow pkg. Mostly rural/highway driving.

I mostly drive on normal mode on my 22 hybrid. I drive mostly rural highways and most importantly, if there's no cars around me, I stick to about 50-55mph to maximize fuel efficiency & when there are cars around me, I go speed limit. During this spring/summer I got:

Highway: 47mpg
City: 60mpg

A cold Canadian winter will -5mpg on those numbers. This is on 87 gas b/c the hybrid lacks the hardware to take advantage of anything higher

I also have the 22 Ecoboost XLT, AWD with towing package & a little over 6,000 miles. I leave it in normal mode unless on the highway, then with eco mode & cruise I get 31, 33 mpg. Less with AC on. Otherwise I get close to 28 mpg in normal mode. I believe when I go on a long road trip in eco mode, cruise, I'll get over 33 mpg.

I’m not sure what Drive does but I just put in D gear and go.

It was only my first tank of gas, but the computer and basic math both said 27.0.

I use normal mode for in town use and eco mode on highway. Get 8.0L/100km on highway in eco mode, and about 8.4L /100km in town use.

I have a similar setup on my Mav and am also doing mainly rural driving in the Smoky Mountains. The Eco mode has made a big difference for my local driving, somewhere between 5-8 mpg. When in regular mode, the turbo stays spooled up more often which seems to reduce my gas milage. Hope that helps.

Thank you. That's a big difference. What mpg are you getting?

Normal, because that is what it defaults to. If we are doing a ton of interstate driving, I'll flip it over to Eco but put it in Sport when we get to city centers so I have the power to escape stupid situations. I'll use tow when towing a trailer and I always put it in "Slippery" mode when the roads get wet.

I did 18.5MPG while towing a trailer in tow mode with combined cargo weight of roughly 2,000 lbs while my kids used the the 400W inverter in the back seat with temps in the 80s and climbing. I felt that was respectable.

I otherwise average just under 30MPG on the interstate. Driving around town, the auto start/stop does reduce the amount of fuel being burned. Especially if, like me, your journey can go exponentially based on the number of red lights you hit.

My Maverick turns 1 year old at the end of this week and I have 21,100 miles on it. Statistically few of those miles are in urban stop & go traffic.

There are active shutters on the radiator and intercooler (if equipped) which are used for superior aerodynamics at highway speeds. Eco mode closes the intercooler shutter at all times and makes the throttle response more sluggish (but wide-open still gives you 100% throttle, of course).

I tested 3-4 trips and Eco mode gave me no benefit over Normal mode at 70-85 on the highway. I have noticed that my tonneau cover is worth 1-2 mpg on the interstate but doesn't seem to matter at slower speeds on 2-lane roads.

Sport mode is pretty fun but I've only used it a handful of times because normal mode is pretty fun, also.
