I'm posting this as an FYI.

This happened a couple weeks ago, during our first warm weather spell here in SE Michigan. No signs of a crack after running errands on a Saturday, then a crack on Monday when I got in to go somewhere. I don't know if it was a contributing factor, but the weather was all over the place that weekend. Snow then temps in the 60's.
The crack was initially just the vertical part, below the bend. It slowly made the bend to the right, then quickly progressed (I watched it spider out as I was driving, eek!). It's been at this length for several days now, so I think it's done spreading.

I have just over 1000 miles on my Maverick.

Took it to the dealership I purchased from. They documented and submitted a warranty request with Ford, which was approved in about a week. Now I wait for a replacement windshield, which could be a while.

Edited to add:
We've had a cold spell here the past few days, and now I am hearing the "crk-crk-crk" sound around the windshield as I drive.
It only happens once the interior of the vehicle is warmed up. When I first get in and drive with everything cold, there is no sound.
The windshield crack has also expanded another couple inches in the cold weather, after staying unmoved for a couple weeks.

This type of crack usually occurs from poor installation. If the glue isn't applied correctly, it will rattle and eventually crack. Source: Safe Auto Glass

Of course, pouring boiling hot water on the windshield to get rid of ice will also crack it.

I haven't noticed any dash rattles, other than the one time my sister borrowed it and left a hair clip in the cubby over the screen. It kept sliding around and momentarily freaked me out as it moved each time I went around a corner, haha.

I never do any kind of water, hot or otherwise, to de-ice a windshield. After half a century plus of living in the upper Midwest, I know a slow warmup is best. (y)

My bet is on poor installation.

Interesting, I recall a couple other people on this forum saying they had stress cracks too. Also some of us have a rattle/clicking around the front windshield as we drive. I wonder if thats related.

Interesting, it would be good to know what the dealer and glass installer have to say about this issue.

That's funny because I hear plastic dash rattle noises when my truck is cold. Once it warms up they go away. I have a nice crack in my windshield. I've already taken 3 rocks to the windshield in one month I've owned it. The Maverick appears to be the perfect height for taking rocks to the face.

My XLT windshield cracked today. I parked at a mall in sunny weather, about 80 degrees. My daughter and I came back out about an hour later and she said, "Where did that crack come from?" There may be an impact mark (I see some sort of glint in the photo that I didn't see when I looked at it) but I was parked head-in so it seems kind of odd. Like some other folks, I have had a rattle in the dash area near the windshield but haven't been able to track it down. Unfortunately, I'm in Canada right now and my dealer is in Arizona, so this may be hard to resolve.

Right over the defroster vents. . . See if you can replace the windshield with the acoustic model, even if your truck is a XT or XLT model.

So I'm one too! I like to keep my Maverick clean & shinny especially the windows, so basically I do a visual inspection multiple times a day. On Friday last week as I was getting into the truck and my son noticed a big crack in my windshield! I know for a fact that it wasn't there when I parked it in the driveway the day before (I always put the window shade up and would've noticed). At 1st I thought someone did this during the night but to my surprise no activity on multiple security cams. Took the Mav to my dealer the next day to see what they would say and unfortunately it wasn't as supportive as I hoped for at first (Acoustic windshield $1500 & not covered under warranty) . It was Saturday, so the Service Manager wasn't in. The service advisor suggested that I contact Ford Customer Relations, so on Monday I did. It took several attempts but finally I was speaking to "Javonte" in Customer Relations and I applaud his support! He took his time with me, researched the issue and how to support my needs. He informed me that the "Windshield" is covered by Ford for 12 months or 12K miles for "Stress Fractures" He even called my dealership to leave a message with the Service Director. He documented the entire call and provided me the case # as reference; if needed. He said that it is now up to the dealer to inspect / advise if it's a stress related issue.

I might be one of the few, but I truly enjoy my dealership (Tutle-Click Ford, Irvine CA) and the support / response they provide to me. After finishing up with Javonte I left a message and emailed my Service Director Sean Osborne who promptly called me the next day (he's off on Monday's) to inform me that he's ordered the replacement & will take (5) days; additionally, he'll perform the "Maverick Recall" work at the same time. Hats off to Sean he's a terrific guy and demonstrates CUSTOMER SERVICE every time!

I'll provide post service update when done.

Maybe it’s me but I see a little white dot on crack. Did they do the ballpoint pen test running it on the crack? Glad you got it under warranty.

My Ranger with 9000 miles developed a crack. Pen test, light shining through the windshield video recording etc. Got it approved for warranty. The guy said he’s checked over a hundred and fifty with only 3 true stress cracks, I was number 4.

I’m thinking glpuckett is a planted post. TC is great dealership but this doesn’t pass the smell test. It could be legit but something seems off kilter to me. A warranty windshield replacement is darn near impossible. I went through wringer on mine.. If true then great for you but it looks as if there’s a chip on that crack from the pic you posted. Sorry bro but this seems contrived..

Just my opinion..

Andy, why would you make such a statement...

The last new car purchase that I made was back in the early 90's for my X. I so didn't appreciate that last dealership experience that I've only bought USED cars for the better part of 20+ years now. In fact prior to learning of the Maverick I was expecting to purchase a used Honda Accord. When I realized my intent to place an order back in June 2021 I started interviewing several Ford dealerships; because, I knew this was going to be a long waiting question filled stressful process. I wanted to feel I had a partner and advocate. Since I've praised other shops or sites ( Long McArthur Ford, Panda Motorworks, MRT Engineering, Adam's, Rack Attack & G2 USA) does that make me a plant for them as well?

Anyway, I'm not much of a car; let alone Truck, person... I'm just another consumer sharing this unique Maverick experience. You can always read my other postings if interested.
