I'm posting this as an FYI.
This happened a couple weeks ago, during our first warm weather spell here in SE Michigan. No signs of a crack after running errands on a Saturday, then a crack on Monday when I got in to go somewhere. I don't know if it was a contributing factor, but the weather was all over the place that weekend. Snow then temps in the 60's.
The crack was initially just the vertical part, below the bend. It slowly made the bend to the right, then quickly progressed (I watched it spider out as I was driving, eek!). It's been at this length for several days now, so I think it's done spreading.
I have just over 1000 miles on my Maverick.
Took it to the dealership I purchased from. They documented and submitted a warranty request with Ford, which was approved in about a week. Now I wait for a replacement windshield, which could be a while.
Edited to add:
We've had a cold spell here the past few days, and now I am hearing the "crk-crk-crk" sound around the windshield as I drive.
It only happens once the interior of the vehicle is warmed up. When I first get in and drive with everything cold, there is no sound.
The windshield crack has also expanded another couple inches in the cold weather, after staying unmoved for a couple weeks.
