Sorry gl,
It just reads odd to me. I’m sure you’re a good person and again I’m happy it’s covered under warranty.

All's good, but that is exactly my point. We should call out the bad dealers, but we should also praise the good ones! As I said the service advisor wasn't as supportive at first, and he also said that it's extremely rare to have a windshield covered by warranty, but try calling Ford. When Sean called me he said he's going to try and always side with the customer. I also posted my first experience with Sean when I wanted to learn about and then install the "Perimeter Plus" alarm system. I felt he went above and beyond to support me his customer!

My XLT windshield cracked today. I parked at a mall in sunny weather, about 80 degrees. My daughter and I came back out about an hour later and she said, "Where did that crack come from?"
UPDATE: I took my XLT to a Ford dealer in Canada. They looked at the crack and said they found an impact crater at the very top of the windshield where the crack meets the edge. So... not a warranty item.

I called my insurance company, told them I was in British Columbia, and they referred me to a glass shop in Montreal (2800 miles away).

I could just get it fixed and seek reimbursement, but I think I'll wait a couple of weeks and fix it when I'm back in the States.

It would make a nice road trip to Montreal
:ROFLMAO::LOL:

I'm from BC hope you're taking the maverick on some nice forest service roads and enjoying the scenery.

So I'm one too! I like to keep my Maverick clean & shinny especially the windows, so basically I do a visual inspection multiple times a day. On Friday last week as I was getting into the truck and my son noticed a big crack in my windshield! I know for a fact that it wasn't there when I parked it in the driveway the day before (I always put the window shade up and would've noticed). At 1st I thought someone did this during the night but to my surprise no activity on multiple security cams. Took the Mav to my dealer the next day to see what they would say and unfortunately it wasn't as supportive as I hoped for at first (Acoustic windshield $1500 & not covered under warranty) . It was Saturday, so the Service Manager wasn't in. The service advisor suggested that I contact Ford Customer Relations, so on Monday I did. It took several attempts but finally I was speaking to "Javonte" in Customer Relations and I applaud his support! He took his time with me, researched the issue and how to support my needs. He informed me that the "Windshield" is covered by Ford for 12 months or 12K miles for "Stress Fractures" He even called my dealership to leave a message with the Service Director. He documented the entire call and provided me the case # as reference; if needed. He said that it is now up to the dealer to inspect / advise if it's a stress related issue.

I might be one of the few, but I truly enjoy my dealership (Tutle-Click Ford, Irvine CA) and the support / response they provide to me. After finishing up with Javonte I left a message and emailed my Service Director Sean Osborne who promptly called me the next day (he's off on Monday's) to inform me that he's ordered the replacement & will take (5) days; additionally, he'll perform the "Maverick Recall" work at the same time. Hats off to Sean he's a terrific guy and demonstrates CUSTOMER SERVICE every time!

I'll provide post service update when done.

Final update:
It took a bit longer than expected, but Sean kept me updated as the new windshield took 12 days to get delivered. I took my Mav in this morning and had it back after lunch. This also included the current "Recall" regarding the engine fire issue. As you can see everything was covered as "Under Warranty"!

I also asked about the "Side Impact" recall and the dealers do NOT have instruction for this; as of yet.

Update to the Update!

Unfortunately BAD & GOOD news, after I picked up my Mav I noticed a paint chip-out on the hood. As soon as I had a chance I emailed Sean at TCF with the pictures. His response was of concern and disappointment (they use a 3rd party for the windshield replacement). He asked me for some time so he could talk to his "Body Shop" manager. The next day he asked me to bring the truck in so they could get the experts to look at it. Bottom line: they want my truck for 2 days so they can remove the hood to properly repair the paint ("Tri-coat" paint). Sean said he's going to provide me a car while it's under repair. Yes, I had to go back for more repair, but Sean & TCF have been outstanding in quickly addressing my needs and NEVER leaving me doubting my decision choosing them as my dealer!!!

I hope they're only painting the small strip where the chip is. That is a bad chip! But I can see why they want to remove the hood. 10x easier to do that vs. Masking the whole truck. Good luck.

It's obvious in my earlier pictures that I am. To be honest I actually thought about it like you have, but these have been around for many years. I'm sure someone with thermodynamics knowledge will dismiss our concerns..

I got the Ford OEM one today - and it fits really snug against the bottom - not sure I’m comfy with that.

I think I can finally put an end to this Front Windshield issue...
The body shop work took a bit longer (3-1/2 days), but I was warned by Sean before hand that it would. My dealer provided me with a Lincoln "Corsair" SUV which was nice, but I definitely missed my Maverick (in drive & mpg's). The work was perfect! It looks like NEW.

Granted, this is an old thread, but since there was recently an update, it got bumped.

I wanted to ask you, why are so suspicious about another Maverick owner's glass issues, enough that you called it out at least twice?

Why jump to suspicion instead of believing them?
