Cactus gray looks like that color you get when you mix leftover paint.
So what's necessarily wrong with a color you get when you mix leftover paint????? Luckily there was no Atlas Blue left to mix in to screw it up. ;) Why would you name a blue after a Titan? Thought that was a Nissan???? :)

their original pitch for the Mav was a low cost basic good looking hybrid at a great price. Now lumping on options that a good chunk of people neither wanted or needed at an additional cost and then limiting the colors choices = Ford has a (not) better idea.
The truck can still be had for reasonable money. But they are going to make you pay if you want options. I don't love it for others, but I was always adding most options anyway.

My ‘23 XL Hybrid, Carbonized Gray, probably won’t be built in ‘23. In ‘24, Carbonized Gray (and Iconic Silver) will only be available for fleet purchases. Why? I understand when colors are deleted from production due to lack of sales, but why remove colors from the general public and grant them to “fleet only”?
Unsure but I did see a Ford Dealership Guy out of Kansas state that Iconic sliver was available on the XTL and Lariat just not the XL ... unless it is fleet vehicle. Link is below.

It just seems to me that Ford's execs don' know what they are doing. This whole Maverick process has been muddled from the beginning! Maybe they need common sense workers rather than MBA folks!

Yep. Apparently, Ford is trying to push silver and carbonized gray lovers to move to XLT or Lariat. When I reorder my CG XL, I’ll just pay $500 and change to red instead of paying almost $3000 to move up to XLT.

I’m not much of gadget guy. Not too fond of most “options”. I probably wouldn’t use them anyway. My only options on my XL were a receiver hitch and a full size spare. The rest of the stuff I want (bed liner, window wind deflectors, mud flaps) I’ll have done after I leave the dealership.

This will be the most expensive vehicle I've had for me, by almost double. Turned 50 yesterday, hoping this can last us until I die or God comes. So I went all out. Also, we decided to go with a Mav vs the full size Bronco so that saved us 25-30k to be used for my fun car. I work from home so don't drive too much anymore.

From one point, I could see eliminating some colors based on "first edition package colors" e.g Area 51, or low order rates on certain colors, but I am not the only allowing certain colors on certain trim levels, to your point ... doesn't make sense.

Good luck with your reorder and smart choice on the red. I debated between CG and Iconic Silver when ordering, and ended up choosing the latter. I am not sure that choice affected anything when it came to my order being selected, but my Iconic Silver Lariat is in production with an ETA of 2 Aug.

plenty of individuals ordered CG (including me) it is a very popular color.
I love my CG, and was considering placing an order for a '24...also in CG. (Boring, but...whatevs!) I like the generally black/blue interior of the XL, which I will order again but maybe the next truck will be Hot Pepper Red. Blue cars have been bad luck for me.

Probably cost. There are expenses involved in switching the assembly line to paint another color, and also there's the time element. Recall Henry Ford famously said, with the creation of the first automobile assembly line, "you can have any color you want provided it's black."

Wait about 15 years and they'll have it back. But I agree with Henry, every vehicle I have had in the last 20 years has been black except one used one that I could only find in silver.

My 23 order is Area 51. You know, the color Ford is using in all their literature. I am a little pissed about them discontinuing it. Of course, they didn't really discontinue it, they must made it metallic and are charging 500 bucks for it, plus you have to go with the XLT to get it. Turds.

There may be a supply issue with components within the paint makeup for those specific colors. Colors are eliminated often for that exact reason. That is a major reason there have been more non-metallic colors over the last 3-4 years and a premium price tag on others.

I think this could be legit.

I have ordered Oxford White from AutomotiveTouchUp, a company I have used many times over the years. Always quick delivery in the past, a week or less.

My first order for my Maverick Oxford White was for a rattle can, took almost a month and a half to get it. Should have ordered a touch up bottle at the same time but didn’t know about the delays.

Ordered a touch up bottle over two weeks ago. Still waiting.

Both times I got this email from them, this is for WHITE mind you:

“Our orders are currently leaving our facility later than anticipated. This delay does not affect all orders, and could be for a variety of reasons. In some cases, it is due to backordered toners or pearls, supply chain issues affecting chemical production, or current labor shortages. Your order is important to us and will be filled as quickly as possible.”
