"Washer fluid level low" indicator came on and off randomly

2.0 Eco Boost XLT Trim. My brand new 2023 Ford Maverick XLT of five days already has the low washer fluid warning flashing on my dash. The washer fluid warning has also populated to my Ford Pass Application. Other than the washer fluid warning and pre-scratched paint job from Ford/destination delivery, I really like the vehicle.

My brand new 2023 Ford Maverick XLT 2.0 eco boost has the same issue. The error shows up on my dash as well as in the Ford Pass App. I really like the truck aside from the immediate error and the few scratches that were on my “New Purchase.”

I'll chime in to say that I feel I go thru wayyyy more washer fluid with the Maverick than I have in any prior vehicle. I actually suspect that the Maverick may dispense more fluid per second than some other vehicles. That's the only thing I can think of to explain it. Although I assume the washer motors are the same as the ones they use for other Ford vehicles. So who knows.

All I know is I drove 1,700 miles over 2.5 days/about 26 hours of driving and used more than a gallon. A good chunk of one of those days it was raining, so I was not using any fluid during that time. And since then I have only put a couple hundred additional miles on it and have used another gallon already.

2.0 eco boost lariat tirm. The low washer fluid level indicator just came on and off randomly while I was driving. Sometimes it also sends an alert to the ford app. I refilled the reservoir and it was nearly full. It looks like a faulty sensor or software issue. Does anyone have a similar issue?

Coming from a 2004 vehicle that was damn near bullet proof for 20 years and had plenty of creature comforts, these type of issues concern me.

Why O why do we need any sensor or wire in the windshield washer fluid? The old method works pretty well.
- Press button, no squirty squirty = refill
- Under the hood for any other reason = check and top off fluids

I assume over the next 10 years, I'll be figuring out how to turn many of these items off via software or short them to a happy state as little BS sensors I. The vehicle die . Am I being too synical and minimalist?

Edit: Someone mentioned FordPass.... Ohh now I get it a little more. Sensors aren't entirely for me, they are also just Incase Ford figures out a way to monitize my windshield washing habits. Hmmm... A few years down the road and out of warranty, I may have to start a well organized Deletes thread

It also happened on my 2023 eco XL. It seems to be a thing that affects many, many trucks. Of course I wouldn’t take it into the dealer and do without it for a few days. It only happened once for me and then went away.

It also did it on mine when I first got the truck. For the first two weeks, it would randomly come on and off. I manually checked the washer fluid level and it was fine. It hasn't happened again in the last four and a half months.

Your logic is spot on here. More parts, more problems. Really missing a manual transmission and windows. With that said, I am a fan of the maverick, and today the error code hasn’t appeared and cleared from my Ford pass app.

I find that I do use more washer fluid because the windscreen on the maverick is a bug killing machine.

I also found a fun feature that uses up more washer fluid.

I was cleaning the windows while parked and getting ready to go just as my wife was about to get in the car. I didn't realize it at the time but there is so much overspray when not driving that she got a good spray of washer fluid getting in the front passenger door. Enough to squeal and swat me when she got in the truck.

Needless to say now I try to spray her or the kids any time I can.

Same issue here, although I haven't popped the hood yet to see if it's really low. I just thought it was odd that the dealer didn't service the wiper fluid, as I just picked it up less than a week ago. Now I see that it may be a bigger issue, great. 2023 XLT hybrid.

Put me in the "Why the hell do we need this sensor?" camp.

Is it just a float sensor? Maybe your reservoir is gunky. I just use rain x and haven't had problems yet.

We are talking about brand new vehicles here, just driven off the lot as is the case with mine. I would hope nothing is "gunky."

Of course I haven't cared about this enough to actually look under the hood yet, but I guess I will tomorrow when it's daylight. Today it didn't come on at all though, and I haven't done anything to make it go away, so it does seem random.

My 2023 XLT hybrid flashes the notification twice second day owning the car. Neighbor and I were laughing that it wasn’t added at the factory. We both looked under the hood and it seemed to be full to the goose neck.
Next day, flashed again. Turns out there was room for at least half a gallon of fluid. Two weeks later and after using the spray few times, no more notifications.
There must have been air pockets causing false alerts.
