I think the term "Maverick" was used to refer to unbranded livestock, in particular cattle. Ranchers would roundup unbranded cattle to add to their herds. Later the term was used to label anything or anyone that didn't follow the norm - marched to different drummer type thing. Not sure how/why Ford choose it to name an automobile.

We are camping in SW Colorado at Morefield CG in Mesa Verde NP. Yesterday morning I found the little gift placed in a zip lock bag stuck under a windshield wiper.
We thought it was cute and appreciated.

Did you ever find out, who put "Boots" under your windshield wiper while camping.

I doubt that I will ever find out who left Boots on my windshield. Most National Parks campgrounds have a large number of 1 night campers, so no way of knowing.
BTW, there was some comments about people sneaking around campsites, the truck was parked in front on my motorhome parallel with the road just a few feet off the road - see pic.

Boots update: I have passed Boots on to the proud owner of a Cactus Grey XLT I saw in the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum parking lot in Hatteras, NC.
I printed a short note to inform the new holder of Boots that it is a traveling Maverick that should be passed on. Also included a link to this thread. Guess we'll see what happens t

o Boots.

Passing it on is a great idea! I think I'll record the place and date on it and pass it on. We have a trip planned to the Outer Banks, NC next month, maybe I'll see a Mav there

lol I have a Boots! He's a stray cat that wanders on the property occasionally and is somewhat friendly with the already stay in the barn stray I adopted years ago. But "boots" is a black cat with white feet. I dunno how... but they find me. And they are usually the chillest dudes too. Not sure if they were abandoned or just wandered and chose to live a different life lol.

People, chip your pets. Especially when you go through the trouble of having them fixed and allow them outside freedoms. "Sparky" is mine now and "Boots" might be here soon too. I need to make sure he's fixed as there was another clearly in heat female that strolled in a couple nights ago. What's crazy is after I officially adopted Sparky he just stopped leaving the property. His barn, his area of operations now.

I will continue to pass out ducks as I'm out and about in order to brighten a fellow Maverick owner's day.
