Typically they just use a sandwiched motor between the engine and flywheel/clutch rather than being integrated into the transmission like the eCVT design. So as far as the manual transmission is concerned it's all input shaft power.

Which is to say in the case of the Maverick Ford probably isn't going to re-engineer the whole electric power delivery for a more complex and wearable component system just for the manual transmission/windows/steering, no A/C, 2-door, bench seat, brown paint, 'I'll buy it used after some other sucker pays the depreciation' bozos.

Dude you are clearly a troll. You haven't contributed anything helpful in any of your posts. You don't own a maverick or plan on buying one in the near future. you just argue semantics. Not sure why you are even here if you don't even like the maverick from what your posts imply...

While I am looking forward to my hybrid, a Maverick with a little Ecoboost and a manual transmission would be fun to drive.

I got to drive mine in the rain yesterday stop/go traffic, yes it requires more attention to the brake application timing and pedal pressure.

I figured out on mine if i progressively apply pressre upon braking that the brakes really tried to grab. So i found myself releasing pressure on the pedal right before vehicle stopped and it seemed to not grab. Smooth stop.

The brake system needs some software tweats, i agree the handoff between regen and friction transition absolutely.

Mine brakes ok, but retraining the driver is mandatory, just like driving a hybrid required changes.

Was wondering if anyone else had noticed this. There have been some posts about clunking or thudding at low speeds. My Maverick certainly does that when dropping down into what I assume is 1st gear. Makes me think the transmission is not long for this world. There's also something I haven't heard much about. The fact that my Maverick doesn't want to stop at low speeds. The best example I can come up with is a situation at a drive-thru. Moving forward in line which gets you up to maybe 1 mph and the truck just doesn't want to stop. It's like fighting me (in electric mode). It's not until I really press hard on the brake that it finally seems to give up and then I come to an abrupt stop. Beyond everyones head bobbing forward and looking like an idiot that can't drive, I swear at some point, this truck is going to hit something in front of it.

This is much more rare but have experienced it a few times. Coming to a stop, the ICE and electric engine seem to be arguing with each other and trying to push the truck forward. The brake pedal vibrates (sort of like ABS working) and the vehicle shakes a bit. Turning the car off and then back on fixes the problem. However, not something ideal when on the road with other drivers.

Has anyone else experienced this? Feel free to pull this down if it's been discussed at length. I just hadn't found anything yet.

**Edit** Thank you for reminding me this transmission does not have a first gear to downshift to haha
Just a bump to see if you are still around. I had my first incidence of what sounds like you are experiencing a few days ago.

For what it's worth there was a TSB to address this.

Hi all!

Some 2023 Maverick vehicles may exhibit a shudder or vibration when the vehicle is braking at 15 mph or below, when the gas engine shuts down and the vehicle is operating in electric mode only. This may be due to the software in the powertrain control module (PCM). We've recently released TSB-23-2209 which instructs Ford dealers to install revised software into the PCM to resolve the engine shudder concern. This TSB only addresses 2023 MY, however we are finishing testing for 2022 MY and will re-publish the TSB at that time. The dealer will need to inspect your vehicle to diagnose the concern and determine if your issue is related to this TSB. As a reminder, you can find more TSB information for your VIN, make and MY at https://www.ford.com/support/ and https://www.ford.ca/support/?gnav=header-support. Please let us know how your Maverick feels with the new software.
