Dug this up because I just got hit with the big oof.

Arranging ins on the new Lariat... Monday is looking definite for pickup... I gotta pore over the paperwork when it comes in. Got an agent in a real noisy office, don't know if I added stuff I didn't mean to. Anyway, fully comp on half the mileage seems to be near double what it is on our 2025 Escape PHEV. The vehicle is 25% more expensive, but I thought it would be a wash between spendy Mav repairs and spendy PHEV repairs and they weigh close so should nail things about as hard. Got all the same safety features... well the Lariat might have a slight edge.

I did hear rates had gone up about a month or two after our last renewal though, so IDK if the differential will be the same at next renewal.

Not sure of exact figs until paperwork lands, but know I'm in for ~100 a month more. I was hoping the Lariat trim was more Boomer, like the Town and Country trim of the minivan, meaning for strange reasons it was cheaper than base. Looks like not... or maybe this year is a bit of a balloon year because of fascia change and it will settle if everybody can avoid crashing them plzthxbye.
I pay $960 a year total for both my 2025 lariat hybrid and wife’s 2018 Honda odyssey

I suffer from being in a Venn diagram cross of a big city, dense traffic, high theft zone and a tourists can't drive for crap because they're too busy gawking zone. So not very cheap in general here.

When I moved from DFW area to the country NW of Austin about 45 miles my insurance went up about 20%. When I checked on WHY it was because I was now in Deer and Hog Country!!!!

The Lariat should actually be cheaper to insure than the lessor trims, I would think as it has more safety features.

Cool. I don’t know Lake Victor but I know Buchanan and Inks.
I used to work EMS in San Saba county. We hit lots of deer at flight speed in the ambulance over the years. All the staff agreed, Deer is dum. The only thing I can think of that is dumberer is the guy that buys those little ‘deer whistles’ to install on their front bumper. Those just make deer freeze in the road and think they are in ‘invisible mode’.

Sorry for the thread hijack….and now back to our regularly scheduled topic.

Dang, if you get killed in an accident, you should go sit in their office until they decide it's worth more than $1500 to bury you.

That’s just for the new 24 Maverick…only have 1 vehicle other than a motorcycle

insurance varies wildly by geography.

we only have the maverick for the two of us at the moment (and my classics, but the only times that we need two cars at once are for a car thing that I'll usually take a classic to).

it will far more than double to add liability only on a beater for my 27 year old daughter with a permit, and be about triple once she has a license!
