I went from paying 54$ a month for my 2009 GMC Canyon to 155$ for the Maverick.
Spotless record.. I'm over 40 years old and only drive 10k km per year so I'll be shopping around soon I'm sick and tired of paying higher insurance because half the drivers in this province don't know how to drive.
Provinces vary widely so I cannot say if your $54 was low or if your $155 is high. But there is no way the Mav should be triple the ‘09 Canyon. If $54 is the fair rate then they’re overcharging you on the Mav. Shop around.

Looking through the forum it seems as if these Mavericks are often totaled due to price of repair even with minimal damage that would be easily repaired on a typical body on frame truck.

So are people’s insurance costs high? I would think rates would be going up to ensure profitability for the insurance companies. How does it compare to other cars you insure if you insure more than one vehicle.

I have mine finally scheduled for build. I’ve been waiting since Oct 2021. I’m wondering if I’ll get insurance sticker shock. I hope not.
You will>>>>>mine started at 800 a year..now up to 1200 a year after new year increase...A lowly xl hybrid....more to insure than my Ecoboom convertible....

My insurance is variable, based upon the distance travelled. My previous Fusion was costing about CDN$1200/yr (US$900), and the Maverick is going to be about half of that for the same distance travelled. I think that the extensive protection systems, warning systems and emergency braking have dramatically cut the hospital costs, which are most of your premium outlay. You need to shop for a new insurance company.
