Very helpful! Much appreciated.
The inside fuse box looks like this with a "fuse-tap" added. We'll probably be seeing a lot more guides and how-tos in the next few months as owners start doing all kinds of mods. I'm planning on doing my dashcam hardwiring this weekend if all my parts come in.

Great photo. Nice and clear. I'm going to assume this is under the dash?
Hard wire is a must if one wants to use the parking monitor feature and I highly recommend using it for a new vehicle.

It's in the front passenger side foot area, there's a plastic cover the easily pops off. I had to just kneel down outside with the passenger door open and lean to the foot area when I was doing some testing in the fuse box. Not terribly uncomfortable but maybe get a knee pad or foam or something if you'll be messing around with it for a while. My driveway concrete didn't feel too comfortable after a while.

On my fantasy wish list, I have a different location from the "dashboard" in mind for a camera.

My F-150 puts a driver's eyeballs above the road by about six feet. So when another vehicle is in the left lane I can see over it, and maybe through that vehicle's windows, to spot on-coming cross traffic.

The Maverick is high enough to give me line-of-sight over a Corvette. Maybe. But it seems most likely that when I'm eastbound in the right lane at a red light, trying to turn right and south, any traffic coming from the north will be invisible behind anything in the eastbound left lane. A Semi. A Ford Transit Van. A Suburban...

How do I mount some sort of spinning camera periscope high up on the roof antenna with a small display, maybe in the dash cubby next to the infotainment center?

I'm all too familiar with using knee pads and foam to protect my poor knees, but I thank you for the advice. I'm thinking of having knee pad implants. LOL.

I would think mounting it high up on the windshield about the same level as the rear-view mirror would be your best mounting location. I don't see how you get it any higher.

Oh, wait. I see what you did here ... a bit of crazy and I fell for it! Periscope, indeed!

To add to what has been said here, which I agree with fully, it is also recommended that you format your memory card every few weeks or monthly. This goes to keeping the overwriting cleaned up and the data formatting structure correct.

Great point! I know most cams say they loop over past recordings, but I have found that to be not entirely true otherwise the cam would not keep asking to reformat.
