Unfortunately Forfeited My Two Orders - Built

I ordered my Maverick on June 18th. Well two. One at Mac Haik Ford in Georgetown TX and one at Covert Ford in Austin TX. Both ordered the same spec, Shadow Black, FX4, Lariat, Luxury Package, Sunroof and Full Size Spare. It was complete crickets on the unit from Mac Haik until a few weeks ago with an email from Ford saying it was built. Then a week after that, the Covert unit was built. Oops! The Mac Haik unit arrived last Friday and the Covert one is in transit. I did find out that the Covert unit is missing the sunroof. It makes no sense since it's on the order confirmation from Ford, but completely missing from the window sticker. It was not put on the truck. Completely confused by this.

I turned my lease in back in August and needed a car ASAP, so I bought a new car and my father said he'd take the truck when it came in. Unfortunately he had some things come up and can't buy it. I decided that maybe I'd trade my two month old car in for the Maverick so went in and drove it. It was so much nicer than I expected and really wanted it, but the negative equity in my new car just didn't make sense, so I forfeited it. I'm very very sad about it and hated walking away from it, but maybe in a couple years I can trade my car in when the Maverick will have some more features, like a full screen to cover that cubby hole and maybe a Raptor package. At any rate, if anyone is looking for a black Maverick with lots of goodies, each dealer has one now. One with a sunroof and one without.

Oh! One observation I made is the Ambient Lighting in the Maverick Lariat. I'm happy to say the lighting is in each front inside door handle pull pocket and each front footwell. There is also lighting in the center cubby where the phone charges, but I think maybe even the XLT models may have that. At any rate, it's there and only in ice blue. I really liked the way it looked.

They are. AutoNation came in close to my pay off, but was $1300 shy. I just didn't want to pay the difference, plus the down payment I made is lost and it's only been two months. I should have rented a car for a few months, but lesson learned.

Unfortunate. But good to know there can be negative equity on new cars even in these times. My plan is to buy a dealer stock ecoboost since I need a car right now. When my hybrid order comes in was going to decide if it was worth the effort to switch and if I would take a hit financially. Getting ecoboost below msrp so was hoping wouldn’t depreciate too much near term

Weird you didn't get the scheduling email from Ford on either order and the dealers didn't know, either.

Go to TRED on line... and be patient and sell your car there! I sold 2 cars (2016 Audi Q5 and 2016 Mazda CX 5 Grand Touring) and got WAY, Way way more than I expected and certainly more than any dealer was quoting me... $2,500 more on the Mazda! The TRED fees are reasonable too... I think I paid $100.00 for use of their site and the sale (was private) but I paid them for the use of the site. Like a shoe company used to state in their Ads: Just Do IT!

You've got an audience of thousands of people, probably a few dozen within driving distance of the Covert dealership. Maybe one of them will pay you a fee of a couple hundred bucks to go with you to the dealership to take possession of the vehicle.

Call it your own version of payment for order flow. That's how brokerages make money with zero commission trades. No reason you can't do the same.

I would love to get one of those out of the blue emails saying my car had been built. I'd say W.T.F. and celebrate.
