So the headlights will always be on during daytime too on a sunny day? if I don't turn it off after every start? What a way to burn the led bulb.
I get a discount off insurance for having daytime running lights. (safety feature) Having them always on so others see you beats replacing your whole front end when someone pulls out in front of you because they didn't notice you. LEDs last a lot longer than the old lamps.

I thought low beam will always be on and high beam will be off. Thanks though.
When it gets dark enough outside, if the light control is in the (default) Auto position, your headlights will come on. If in a dark garage, they'll also come on, but go off when you get out in daylight. If you don't want them on for any particular reason, spin the dial counter-clockwise and the headlights will go off.

This is separate from the Daytime Running Lights (aka DRLs). Those can be enabled/disabled to your liking in the truck's settings.

If you RTFM it will show you how to change the DRL settings. ;)

It may be the case in lower trim levels without separate DRL's the low beams may be used as DRL's IF in settings the DRL' s have been set to BE ON. If DRL's have been selected to be off your INS company should be tied in to Fords data base and then could turn off your SAFETY DISCOUNT!.

I'm retired and get out for a long walk almost every morning, and I think my time on Earth will end when I step out in front of a car without its headlights (DRLs, whatever) on. Those lights are on so others can see you, not so you can see me. Please turn your lights, pretty please.

Use the online one at Ford.com or Ford.ca depending on your country of existence it’s easier to search.

I agree. There have been times I might have missed seeing a car if it wasn't for someone behind them with THEIR lights on. There are SO many cars running without any lights in fog, at dawn or at twilight, where the vehicle is so much harder to see because they left their headlights off.

If it lets one person see you a half-second sooner and thus turns an accident into a close call, isn't that worth it?

It always defaults to auto when first started. If you want them off after starting, you have to physically turn the switch to off each time.
THANK YOU! You answered one of my three, "new Maverick owner" questions! What about being able to shut off the "no idle at traffic light" feature? Can THAT be turned off in the menu section or need I do that manually at each startup as well?

Not without reprogramming, possibly with FORscan.(?)
You can turn off the DRLs.
The user manual tells how to do it.
And you, sir, also answered this question for me I posted in another thread. Thank you!

Without third party intervention, you have to do that manually each time as well.
