. I found the 15" of storage space from the board to the tailgate to be inadequate for our shopping needs. My design gives 27 inches of storage area. The same area my wife's Escape has between the backseat and tailgate.
I didn't like having to bend across the tailgate in order to pull items out of the back. I can pull the whole tray to me once.
And if I need the full bed. I pull out the side brackets and the front portion lies down and I can use the whole bed and have nothing to store.

That is what I was thinking. I had 200lbs of weight on a piece of plywood that became tough to push. Then I found a scrap of 1 inch diameter steel pipe 30 inches wide that made it simple to roll. Been scratching my head for a low level roller attached to a design like yours.
