Anyone else out there seeing this #WildfireSmoke today? Woke up to a completely orange/red sun and a thick hazy fog over the truck. Smells like a campfire out here!

A haze, but certainly not as bad as I see further north. Thanks HRG! You have smoke in your area as well?
Wow that was great.Yeah, I'm here in Michigan in the Thumb and it is really bad. This is the worst I've ever seen it.
I'm actually one of the meteorologists here in mid-Michigan and we've been tracking this for a few days. The smoke moved into the central Lower and the Thumb on Wednesday afternoon.
Fires are in Western Ontario and were ignited by lightning at the beginning of the week from thunderstorms in that region. High pressure previously over the Great Lakes (just brought us that heat wave) has moved south, so the NW wind on the northern periphery of the high pressure has lined up (im)perfectly, bascially putting this state as well as others in the region directly downwind of the fires.
Here in the Lower we'll get a small break in the smoke late Friday night and Saturday morning as the wind becomes SW, but by Saturday evening the Lower will be back under smoke again when the wind shifts back to the NW.
It's been pretty good around here this summer regarding smoke up until this situation. The last year I remember with heavier smoke here was 2023, but even still that doesn't really hold a candle to this bout of smoke. Those fires that year were mainly out in BC, Canada, so the smoke could disperse a little more before reaching the Great Lakes.
Sorry, no pics of the Mav in the smoke lol.
I work in flat rock Michigan at frap..it was so bad in the plant you couldn't see 25 feet in front of you...and we still had to work in it..said air quality was great...............it definitely is not great@AlpineKid74
