I shop for my Ford dealer. I used the same dealer for 11 years. My salesman passed, he was the guy that was keeping me as a customer. In those 11 years we went through 4 different sales managers.
My new Ford dealer is locally family owned and managed. So far so good.
Capitalism 101: Ford answers to it's shareholders. Customers and dealers are only tools that Ford uses to generate revenue to satisfy it's shareholders.
That's a harsh way to put it, but it is the truth.
IMO, Ford hasn't blotched anything, they are doing the best they can in a very difficult situation.
Is any other auto manufacturer doing a better job? I don't think so.
The Dodge dealer near my house has six new cars on the lot, 2 at the Honda dealer, about a dozen last time I drove by the Chevy dealer. I don't think the Toyota dealer has any.
CarMax is buying and selling like crazy. My F150 was advertised for 5k more than they bought it from me. it was gone in 3 days.
