I have a ‘24 FX4 with 4K tow, 11,000 miles and it does not do this. If mine were jumping from 1st to 4th I would take it to the dealer.

Tried T/H mode and I think I can live with the way it is. Tach is all over the place and shifting all the time in tow mode. I’m good.before getting all excited try tow/haul mode
Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.Mine does the same thing. Is annoying, but I can work around it by being a little more aggressive with the acceleration, or be patient with it until it speeds up a little more.
Sport mode shifts better, but doesn’t let it go into the last two gears (at least not up to 70mph). Tow/haul is good for towing and hauling, but the added downshifting and engine braking in every day use is more annoying to me than the lugging.
I’ve been on this forum now since August, is this for real? All “It’s” texts are the same!Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.
The EPA forces manufacturers to take whatever measures possible to comply with CAFE standards, or they will be fined.I don't understand this logic. Give me an old school 5 or 6 speed transmission with normal shift strategy any day of the week over the newer transmissions with 245 gears and all the lugging. But, Ford thinks the MPG bragging right is more important than repeat customers. So in the end, we are to blame.![]()

Ahk, now I won’t be able to sleep at night! Think I’ll go order a Chevy Colorado ZR2 and trade in the Mav that’s not even half a year old! Thanks Henry.Yep, same thing on my 24 Maverick and 22 Ranger as well. That's how Ford programs the transmission. You see, if they force it to lug at very low RPM's, you might net .624 more of a MPG. Why? To save you gas which saves you money. Yay right? No! This will prematurely wear out the transmission (it's not doing your engine any favors either) so you have to pay $7300 to replace it. Of course, this will happen after the 60k mile warranty is up, on purpose. All Ford cares about it that the engine and trans last to that magical 60k mark. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy when you buy it, right? "60k? That's forever away!"

I wonder what my transmission controller is learning from me almost exclusively driving in Sport mode using my paddle shiftersThe transmission controller learns shift strategy from your driving habits. Maybe you could talk to your service department about resetting it so that it initiates the learning process again.

So, you can’t just disconnect the negative post on the battery and let it sit overnight like my old 97 Dakota, then reconnect in morning and drive it like a madman to relearn all over again, bummer! From my understanding, or what I've been told, the "learning" happens within a short period of time after the control module has been reset, so I doubt it's currently learning anything from you unless you've reset it.
Not necessarily bragging rights , its all about cafe standards and getting the overall fleet sold mpg average up to sell more f150’s and f250’s!Yep, same thing on my 24 Maverick and 22 Ranger as well. (55) Transmission shifting/acceleration/turbo lag complaints AWD EB List yours here! | MaverickTruckClub - 2022+ Ford Maverick Pickup Forum, News, Owners, Discussions24 XLT FX4 2.0 eco boost. Anyone else experiencing that as the trans shifts from 1 to 4 and if you keep speed steady the trans seems to ‘lug’ until you take foot off the gas or push on it to speed up. It doesn’t seem to want to downshift just ‘lugs’. Truck feels awful during this, shakes lightly and sounds awful. It’s brand new dammit! Another reason why I like manual trans.
I agree Mox, just wanted to take it easy until properly broken in, if that’s still a thing with new vehicles, don’t see why in 2024, 1972 maybe, backwards! If I stab it or remove foot off go pedal, no problem! Only have 1000 kms on it. Wait and see. From my experience so far since mine does something similar, I’ve found that not “babying” the accelerator really helps. Maybe it just doesn’t like grandpa driving. Mine seems to shift a lot better when i actually get up and roll with it.
