Yeah normal when its brand new and the transmission hasn't figured out what you like + your dealer may have used plain ol gas. After a few hundred miles and premium, mine doesn't do that anymore.
Determined it was not transmission, it's the ecoboost at cold weather. It only does it at cold weather about 39 degrees or colder. It does not do it when warmer outside at same rpm

Hey everyone,

new Mav owner and first time posting. 2024 2.0 EcoBoost AWD Lariat. ~300 miles. Just wanted to complain about the horrible transmission programming that seems to make this engine lug and vibrate at small throttle inputs. Feels EXACTLY like driving a manual car when you forget to downshift and lug the engine. I have this horrible sensation to downshift but obviously I cannot. This causes vibrations you can feel/hear until you give it more gas or change speeds.

I’ve read similar threads, and I’ll probably get the dealer to look at it but I know they won’t actually do anything. Anyone else notice this problem on their Maverick? Tow mode or sports mode seems to fix the issue but I shouldn’t have to switch from Normal mode every time I get into the car! Not to mention those modes are a bit overly aggressive.

otherwise it’s a great rig, and I hope there is a fix without going aftermarket (warranty).
I have a 24 2.0 AWD XL

Hi,
Yes I have the problem, took it back to the dealer, dealer verified the vibration, drove other Mavericks on the lot, they all had the vibration. Even talked to some Ford web assist guy on Facebook, he told me to take it back to the dealer AGAIN!! I guess Ford will not address this until the trany/drivetrane start failing in the field. Just hope mine fails before the warranty runs out which will probably leave me stranded on the road.

Hi,
On my fourth tank of premium fuel, still have the vibration issue.

My problem may be similar, when I step on the gas my ecoboost seems unresponsive at times. First thought was I purchased some bad gasoline. running fresh gas I haven't noticed any difference. My biggest concern is my dealer wanting to charge me $200 to hook up a meter to check for a possible problem. I have an extended warranty and you would think they would want their vehicles to run flawlessly. Still not running as smoothly as before, and I have to wait until their transmission guy returns in the middle of may. Sorry for the rant. but feeling very disappointed. I own a 2023 with 18K miles.

Anyone ever get this (Under warranty) issue resolved I am having the same problem.
Seemed to have started when I took it to the dealer for a recall on the display, while it was there, they rotated the tires, and I had them do an oil change.
Hi,
My personal opinion is it’s a software issue. If it was a CV joint issue it would happen during all trany options. Mine does NOT do the vibration thing using trailer or performance mode.

Stop driving it like a hybrid. Drive your Ecoboost like a V-8
Accelerate briskly,
The object of the game is to get it into the higher gears quickly but smoothly.

The Ecoboost wants to perform but can’t if you hold it back.
500 miles you say ? It’s time to drive it like you stole it, finish the break in process before you go back to pussy footing it.
After a thousand miles, drive it harder.
My Eco never dragged its ass. At 5500 miles now it’s so so smooth with the smoothest quickest to respond pulls fast all the way up the tach response.

Stay out of Eco mode, all it does is make my Maverick feel like it needs a tune up and gives me exactly nothing in additional mpg’s.

Hi,
Don’t own the hybrid version, don't drive it like a hybrid whatever that is. Most time I’m in normal trany mode. Also don’t do jackrabbit starts due to traffic around me. Your solution does not seem like something Ford would recommend. Got about 10k miles on it still doing it. Either bad trany gearing design or a software problem.

I have fought similar symptoms since day one. Shudder, fluttering RPM, stuttering through intersections/town at low speed(no check engine light). Kept looking for chassis/driveline concerns, had a torque converter replaced, played with all the drive modes occasionally thinking I was onto the solution. Symptoms kept progressing and pushed my dealer with just 2000 miles left under powertrain warranty to find a solution. Mechanic did great checking it out, but with no codes and just a handful of "minor" symptoms, came up empty handed. Finally, Ford engineers responded and stated the following for the mechanic:

"This may be due to water within the EGR system. I’d recommend electrically disconnecting the EGR valve and reevaluating the concern. If the concern does go away, inspect the DPFE sensor and tube for water. If water is found replace the DPFE sensor, tube (where the DPFE sensor connects), you can attempt to blow out the components with shop air to remove the water. Otherwise, replace any components as needed."

Replaced the "DPFE" (part number: K2GZ-9J433-C), which isn't made in the lines, but mounted on top of the actual EGR and has two rubber hoses reading two different pressures to my understanding. This has returned my truck to feeling brand new with no symptoms present (this was also apparent when I electrically disconnected the EGR valve itself to test this system/theory). Part was NOT covered under powertrain even though all the other emission components in that system appear they would have been covered. Still can't believe how much trash I had talked on my ecoboost/8-speed, but again it seems the DPFE replacement was the answer to all my issues!
