Is this “M” mode only a 25 thing, cause it ain’t on my 24 Eco? Ignorance, I know!

So the 25s are the first year with the manual shifting on the mavericks? That explains why it's so weird lol

Don't get me wrong, I like that it does it better in automatic. I get to pay more attention to the road

Ford “Select-Shift” is on all Ford Trucks except the Maverick. It lets one use paddle shifters to shift gears M mode (manual).

In 2025, both the Lobo & Tremor models have Select-Shift as standard equipment.

Darn, I like my 24, and don’t really want to trade it in. Maybe I’ll wait and order a 26. The sales rep I bought my 24 from is begging me to trade it in! But I like it too much. Just over a year old and only 8000 kilometres on it. Ya, retired, don’t drive much!

I’d say don’t trade in for a ‘26! 2024 is an excellent vintage. Maybe wait until the 2028 redesign if you must

Most folks that have Select-Shift don’t even use it. I’m an exception in that regard. Also retired and get out less than you. 5000km/yr!

Yes. Mine does it, too. Usually when I am running in eco mode, in the hills, less than 50 mph. When it annoys me, I just bump it up to sport mode temporarily until I got through the slow area

Interesting! Thanks for the tip. What I started doing is drive in Low “L” mode. The only problem with that is that after a full stop it will stay in the lowest gear until it reaches 6000 RPM, and only then it will shift to the next higher gear. Not a good solution.

Your wife's Focus didn't have a 8 speed gearbox I had a focus st with a 6 speed manual and ya that vehicle didn't do that, she must of had a ST too because the regular focus had 190 hp engine not the 250 hp one

Well, my 2024 Maverick did not come with an engine cover. When checking my wife’s 2021 Escape engine compartment I noticed that her engine cover would fit my Maverick. Therefore I assumed same engine cover = same tranny. I ended up ordering an engine cover through EBay. When I received it it had a Lincoln emblem on it. When I took my truck for the first oil change you should have seen the expression on the mechanic’s face. Where did you get that?
