Just hit 20k miles and noticed lately my transmission’s been acting a little different. 99% of the time I drive in regular mode and noticed lately that sometimes it will shift a little rough when taking off between maybe 3rd and 4th gear (usually only when just taking off from a cold start) and when I’m just cruising easy down the road between low 30s to mid 40’s it will shift up to higher gears and sit in the 1200rpm range. It will gladly shift down if I give it a little more throttle so I don’t THINK I’m getting the same issues this other fella had that’s waiting on a new tranny from the factory. I don’t know. Anyone else experiencing this?

It does not. Sport Mode works like sport mode always did. If anything it’s almost like normal mode’s acting a little like Eco mode, but just a hair like it.

Hey there. Can you send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer? I would like to take a closer look at your transmission concerns.

I've noticed the same thing here recently. I wonder if there was some kind of OTA update. It sort of shifts into a higher gear and holds at 1,200rpm rattling the exhaust and straining the motor a bit. I'm just a little under 800 miles on mine. Also adding the windshield/dash click I can't find.

Its been mentioned a few times on here that our Mavericks "learn " our driving habits and tweaks some settings to better simulate how we drive. Not sure if that is accurate or not. If true though, in your case maybe your Mav is tweaking default Normal mode to act a little more like ECO mode, but just a hair like it ? ;)

Same here, I just joined today to see if others are having the same issue. When it was new, the transmission seemed like somewhat of a slush box to me. Slow shifts but at the appropriate timing. Now with only 2400 miles on the clock, the shifts have tightened up but it upshifts WAY to quickly. The motor lugs and the whole truck seems to shudder. Not a very pleasant driving experience. The other thing that really bothers me is that the shift mode that you select does not remain active once you shut the truck off.

And when the engine is lugging, it puts out quite a boost in decibels of low frequencies. Almost like a pair of diesels running at those certain low speeds on a ferry boat. Some users say the truck “learns” how you drive and plans accordingly. I wish it didn’t hahahaha.

I'm having the almost the exact same issue. I notice it from about 35-48 mph or so when just lightly pressing the accelerator. It feels like it's just stuck in too high of a gear and kind of shakes along at too low RPM. The service department actually has my Mav now checking it out.

I’m sure it’s a programming thing and ford can send out some update to remedy it. Kind of scary that there’s so much electronics involved. I’ve also notice since my trucks started behaving this way it’s not making it more fuel efficient. I’ve been averaging 23mpg snd that’s a with maybe 50/50 highway/city.

Let us know what the garage says about this. I’m debating whether I should take mine in or not. Mine will easily pop down a gear if I tap the gas a little but it’s still annoying.

I just took my Maverick in yesterday. I had been feeling like a roughness at below 2000 RPM's. Felt like a manual car where you are riding the clutch is the best way to describe it. Of course like a dog that's know's it's going to the vet and starts to behave, it stopped doing it about 3 days before the appointment so of course they didn't feel anything. Sometimes though it is good to take it into service regardless because the problem will be on record should it turn into something more serious later on.

The service department called me yesterday and said nothing is wrong, the Maverick is just underpowered. I thought that was a really odd thing for them to say. Anyway, I responded that it didn't drive like this when I first got it or for the first 10k miles. He then talked about the transmission learning and reiterated there's nothing wrong with it. It would really suck if the transmission has in fact learned to be terribly uninspiring.

250 horsepower is underpowered for a vehicle weighing less than 4k? Lol.

I am finding if I take off with a little more foot around town it won’t shift so early. Also took mine out on a day trip today on the highway to another state where people tend to go like hell and stretched its legs. I gotta say she handled like a champ keeping up with the sports cars and hotroddin 4 by’s. Tried to stay around 75 and easily creeped up to 90! 😶
