Trade F-150 for a Maverick?

If you are playing the long game I would order it and wait.

IF you can get a guarantee that you won't pay over MSRP, in writing! I LOVE my Maverick but I was in a position where it was buy it now or wait another year, at least. I took a hit on some options I had become accustomed to, and I paid 5k over MSRP. Had I just ordered one I would be a little bit happier than I am now. It was not an impulse buy but there was one option, and while I was dealing two other people came in to look at it. But, no regrets just a little hindsight kicking in.

As far as the market goes, you may be completely right and in two years they will be saturated. However, if the predictions are correct and the economy is going to go down the tubes, then its likely they will be going for even more than they are now!

Otherwise don't budge on your trade. Sell the F150 else where and buy it clean.

I just wanted to give the Maverick a shot after more than 20 years of daily driving F150’s.

I just don’t think one replaces the other - unless we are talking just transportation. Above is kind of like saying a Miata is better because its cheaper than a 911 or maybe a Wen track saw is better than a Festool one. All depends on your needs and viewpoint.

You should see how many shiny F150s there are in my neighborhood that have never hauled anything but air, but are driven by suburbanites that want to cosplay cowboys.

There are a ton of people who buy F150s who need the capability, but there are ALSO a bunch where it really IS just used for transport and maybe just tossing a couple of items in the bed every six months.

So yeah, definitely some folks where one could replace the other.

Eh, there are shiny, barely utilized vehicles of every imaginable type everywhere. Always has been, always will be. The only way a Maverick replaces an F150 is if someone literally replaces an F150 with a Maverick to fit their needs/wants.

A suburbanite cosplay cowboy in a daily driven F150 is less sad to me than a 10 year old Ferrari with 1,200 miles on it.

Saved $2500 in insurance each year? My 2018 f150 with full coverage is less than $100 a month. I paid $26k for the truck new off the lot as a demo in 2018, which is about the same price as a maverick. Gas mileage, sure you will save some money there. The real question is will the maverick last as long as an f150?

Good point, I’m actually scared of the turbo failing and sending shrapnel into the engine block and totaling the truck around 120,000 miles like Fords other turbos…

Since you are in Houston I’ll suggest you sell your F150 to the highest bidder and buy my 600mile Lariat Lux for what I paid lol

Yeah that's why I ordered the hybrid Maverick. My f150 has the 2.7l Ecoboost and I worry about longevity too, plus that gas mileage isn't nearly as good as advertised. I average around 18, but it's supposed to be 20 City/26 hwy

If you mainly carry Bout saving gas, get the Maverick. If you think the interior will be anything like an F150 in quality or size, it's not. It's nice enough inside but thr Maverick is a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Everyone kept saying it is plenty roomy in the back but it's not. I have an F150 Platinum as a work truck and the interior size isn't even comparable. It doesn't even have close to the same space in the back as my 2018 Rav4 I sold for thr Maverick. It is tiny.

Oh I totally understand the game and that's why I walked. The new market is weird to me. Again I "knew" the game before this but I also assumed they would give me a far better number to begin with. Kbb, NADA, Black Book, all have my trade at 24+, so to be hit with 17k about blew my mind.. Maybe I don't understand this new market and I'm the assh*le? Idk

I've watched some small used car lot owners on tiktok talk about how the market is changing, they think people going into 2024 are running out of money and at the end of their savings, so the used car market for certain class sizes is going to have major shifts. They made it sound like the $5k-$15K will continue to sell and they won't be able to move the $30K products. One owner said at auction no one was buying many of the $30k vehicles.
