Some of us probably already have that label by our phones spying on us. 🤪

What's better in Sync 4?
After a month with it on that Bronco Sport, it didn't notice anything better than my Sync 3.

I did notice the SiriusXM doesn't show what song is on, only the channel name when searching, unlike my Sync 3. I also turned off the built in Wireless Android Auto so I could use my AAWIRELESS adapter with developer mode for 3rd party apps.
Everything.

I've noticed that a lot of people complaining about the lack of physical climate control knobs or buttons on the 2025 Maverick. They primarily come from those who don't own a 2025. Am I the only one that was pleasantly surprised at how simple the touch screen controls are? The fact that they are always visible seems to make all the difference. I like the fact that I don't have to scroll through a menu. What do you guys think concerning the touch screen only climate controls? Were you pleasantly surprised too?
nothing is as simple as turning two wheels and setting the temperature and the fan speed, along with pushing a button or two directing the airflow.

I understand that you're not a fan because of the potential problems down the road. But how easy or difficult, convenient or inconvenient is it to operate the actual controls themselves. ? If you knew they'd last the life of the truck, Are they inconvenient or simply different?
I tend to keep my vehicles a minimum of 8 years/100,000 miles. The electronic controls are not only inconvenient, they are far less safe to use than knobs. With control knobs, I very quickly learn where they are and can adjust the controls by feel without taking my eyes off the road. Not true with electronic controls. I might as well be texting or watching videos as I drive.

Does voice control work if you say increase temp 2 degrees or do you have to tell it a temp?
I have not used "Increase by 2 degrees" I have said "Set Temp to 22 degrees". I tried saying 22 degrees C and it choked. Interesting.

Even though I grew up watching Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock talk to the ships' computer, I still feel very odd doing it myself.

Thanks for confirming what I thought.

So voice controls aren't a replacement for physical controls.
I can grab a knob and turn it a little more either direction.
For voice control temp changes, you still have to look at the screen to see current temp so you can tell it the new temp you want.

I love these threads for two reasons - first is that nobody here claiming they have memorized the buttons have actually memorized all 14 buttons. If I asked you to close your eyes and turn the fan speed down two levels nobody is doing that correctly. Furthermore - the temperature knobs do not have detents where you're going to feel and think "I just went up two degrees, perfect!" AND you're still going to have to look at your screen to confirm the new desired temperature.

But more than the bogus claims of memorizing 14 buttons and not taking your eyes off the road at all is the fact that you all are constantly messing with your HVAC controls while driving down the road.

I get in, I decide if I am going HVAC or windows open - and then I drive.

I think physical controls are superior, after all look at a cockpit or really any critical human machine interface, but in this application I don't see the critical nature, it's basically the same as radios have been for years, you look at it to tune or check the station, or the song name or artist... How often are we all fiddling our knobs here? I usually adjust it once every few drives if that, usually when there's been a significant change in the weather, otherwise... The radio on the other hand, it sees much more frequent use... They put Max defrost on a physical button, which makes sense as really the only critical HVAC task I can think of... 🤷‍♂️

Not everyone got the chance but I was able to take a 2025 for a spin, liked it, and drove it home. It was vastly different from the 'primitive' 2019 RAM Promaster I traded in but I just kept getting in the Maverick, drove it, and very quickly all the changes became second nature and basically disappeared. As far as I can tell everything works just fine. (y)

At the end of the day it doesn't seem to really matter whether anyone likes or dislikes what Ford has changed with a new model year. They're going to change it again, and again, and again, ad infinitum. If a point comes where we need a vehicle and we can't (or won't) adapt to the next new thing then the choices get harder. We're not there yet.

At this stage I'm just happy to be feeling pretty good, active and still driving. Time is too short to get hung up on some of these minor details that have no real impact on my life. Like that wise, old bumper sticker says - Get in, sit down, shut up and hang on!

Sing it louder for the back.

I think a lot of the yelling-at-clouds about touchscreens is from people who either don't know what the "auto" HVAC setting does, or don't trust them darn computers to tell them what's comfortable, or are just too stubborn to ever stop fiddling with knobs.

Are tactile controls safer in general? Sure. I think things like windshield wipers, lights, hazard flashers, gear selectors, and anything that might be needed QUICKLY should never be on a touchscreen, and things you have to hunt for while in the middle of a "situation" have GOT to be tactile controls you can find blind and/or without thinking.

To your point, though, I shift the temp dial MAYBE 2-4 degrees, a few times a season. (And for the record, my MY23 definitely has detents in the temp dial, and each one is a degree...) But even Ford's half-ass auto fan speed and wonky gale-force blasts of outside air keep the cabin close enough to fine that I have never found myself "just having to immediately change the HVAC in the middle of a lane change."

But fiddlers gonna fiddle... 🤷‍♂️

Do you have a 2025? Have you experienced this particular touch screen? I'm not asking to be argumentative because I can see your point. However, I find it to be just a simple with the way that they implemented the controls in this particular situation. Others May disagree though. Some do

I guess years of using touch screen phones and years of using manual HVAC controls, doesn't qualify people to know without driving a 2025.
Button line, you can grab a dial and turn it a little hotter or colder without ever looking at the dial.
You can not do the same on a touch screen

I agree. But I was honestly surprised with this one. That's why I asked SPECIFICALLY was anyone who purchased a 2025 pleasantly surprised as I was. That's all. It seems better than any I've experienced previously.

I would like to have the physical HVAC controls. I looked at some '24s. The upgrade to Sync 4 and the bigger screen made it an easy trade-off IMO.

The only issue I have is that occasionally when I try to change a radio preset I get a climate setting instead. Fat finger.
