Top Tier vs Ethanol free gas?

In Florida, Top Tier gas costs MORE than Ethanol Free.

Been a while since I looked. Last time I checked in Texas pure gas was $1 more. Does ethanol free have detergents?

The owners manual states other wise, "
For best overall vehicle and engine
performance, premium fuel with an octane
rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The
performance gained by using premium fuel
is most noticeable in hot weather as well
as other conditions, for example when
towing a trailer. See Towing a Trailer
(page 263)."

While the min is 87 apparently ford doesn't share your view of octane.

You seem to think I was telling everyone to run 87 in their vehicles. If you read the second paragraph I said follow the owners manual.

In a higher compression engine such as the Ecoboost while towing a trailer in hot weather, you may begin to prematurely ignite 87 octane, which is why Ford recommends higher octane for those situations. 99% of the time 87 octane is the proper fuel in the maverick

I see on page 172 of the owners manual where you got your paragraph. Did you notice the large blue box above it noting that "your vehicle operates on regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum pump octane of 87"

Yeah i seen the "minimum" and the "recommended". But you said that any higher than 87 is a waste of money. While ford said higher than 87 is better performance. So i pointing out the differences. And ford doesnt change their stance on this for hybrid or eco.

Up North I have yet to find non-ethanol gas within 60 miles

I see 120 stations in IL, and 180 in IN, so they're out there.

And of course E0 has detergents! How do you think they make E10? It's diluted E0!

Filled yesterday at Byrne Dairy in Horseheads. The pump had diesel, along with 87E10, 89E5 and 90E0. Their premium tank is all E0. $3.999/gal, vs. ~$3.35 for 87E10.

Keep in mind, that comes out to $0.072/mile. What are you getting?

If so, I would consider it. But since it's way more and I don't really think they have the detergents, I don't think that's the way to go.

Plenty of websites that track stations that sell it. Lots of places that run small engines regularly sell it. Some are big brands, some are 3rd party unbranded stations. In PA even some Wawas carry it.
