Todays perception of power

Believe me, after being a speed demon all my life, it is extremely difficult. Being honest, I hate being in a cluster on the highway. I will step on it to break free and get good air. I guess that's why my average MPG stays at 44 MPG. My best is 46.5 MPG. I get the higher number when I'm being good. So you can see from my average, that doesn't happen a lot.

I can only dream of those numbers. I have 4 vehicles right now. 3 of them get 14 mpg on a good day. My DD is a 2014 edge which averages 23 mpg when I’m not driving it like I’m at the Daytona 500.

One of my trucks is a rusty old Dodge Ram 2500 with over 230,000 miles on it. It has a 8.0l V10 with true duals. She’s not much to look at but I love the deafening roar it makes. My 1980 F100 has a stock 302 that sounds awesome too but it’s kind of a dog.

My 350 is straight piped and so is my harley.....

I feel like the Maverick hybrid is going to be just fine. there is a lot more to it than horsepower. All of the cars that I’ve had over the last 25 years have been pretty similar in the horsepower category and weight, except one. they all drive similarly on the highway at passing speed. Granted, some of them were a little slower off the line. Here is engine size, weight and published 0-60:

3.0, 182hp, 3329lbs, 8.2 secs
3.8, 200Hp, 3307lbs, 7.5 secs
5.4, 230hp, 5175lbs, 10 secs, but great at passing speed
2.5, 184hp, 3219lbs, 7.1 secs, but I couldn’t do that in manual
3.2, 255hp, 3836lbs, 6.4 secs, cvt
2.0 diesel, 140hp, 3283, 8.4 secs
2.0 hybrid, 212hp, 3483, 6.9 secs

Same here in Florida for the most part. But I have been pulled over for exceeding the limit by 2 MPH. I was totally shocked. No ticket issued but he did write me a warning.

Personally, the mileage, flexibility, and price are all excellent but to be honest up until the Bronco Sport, the other SUV’s were not appealing to my eyes. The Maverick looks great and it just fits what I want. I am getting the XLT with every package and a sunroof. Alto Blue.
It just works for me and that’s all that matters. I got what I wanted at a fair price and my build is the week of October 4th so hopefully I have it by sometime in November but if it ends up being December or January that’s when I get what I wanted. It’s all good

I was not officially pulled over with lights flashing, but was waved over by an attractive female LEO, after seeing her at a gas station. We exchange info, and it was fun for a bit

The point of the torque was towing power. The 94 150 was rated at 7500 POUNDS! It was heavier than the mav and towed more. It needed the extra torque. You are worried about speed. That is herspers.

The F150 was heavier than the current Maverick because it was a larger vehicle and body-on-frame construction.

I'm not worried about anything, actually. Certainly not speed.

I have seen a lot of people worrying about the power of the Mav. It blows my mind where we are today. The low end Mav has 190+herspers. The EB has 250. The 1994 f150 six banger had a measly 145 herspers. For those of you who say, well that was the lowly six banger Ill raise you the 1994 FORD LIGHTNING had 240 and weight 4800 pounds! I have never heard in my life anyone say that truck was under powered. The 1990 1500 SS had 240 horses. These were the PERFORMANCE trucks of the day! Go back to the 80 and its uglier. In this day and age of 700 horsepower trucks people have forgotten that even 400 herspers is A LOT OF POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have become spoiled to super powered trucks. My 94 150 with a 5.0 was rated at 195 herspers. I put 300k on that engine towing boats and trailers across the South. It was NEVER underpowered.

So bottom line people, the 190 out of the Hybrid is enough. More than enough. As much as a V8 in the 90s. The EB is more than the PERFORMANCE TRUCKS of the 90s. Dont worry about the power of this truck. It is by far more than enough and more than most of us grew up with.

I think a big thing people forget to too is gear ratio and the strength of your tranny is very much a thing.

Just a different muffler would probably help a lot. I don’t want to go full ricer and sound like a massive wet fart through town
