A relative sent me this video of his uncles truck. It caught fire at 4 am.

UPDATE: Fire Department investigators confirmed the fire started under the hood of the Maverick.

respectfully, has the fire department concluded that the Maverick was the source of the fire? or did someone get footage of it early and it was the first / only thing on fire?

This is unfortunate. I'm sure investigators will determine the exact cause of the fire and please give an update. I thought the fire risk associated with Mavericks usually involved an accident, not some random flare up. Any electrical mods?

From what I understand, the fire recall for the Maverick involves 35,501 units and should be a third quarter campaign but owners should have received notification beginning in June.

Again, please keep us updated.

Neighbor called FD and told them the truck had an engine fire.

Where’s the pic of the burnt maverick? I thought the fire recall was in regards to potential fire if there was an oil leak while it was running?

No mods on the truck. And probably not related to any of the recalls, as the engine was cold whe

The Maverick is in the 12 second video. This one burned while parked and cold.

I suspect arson. No way is this an engine recall issue.
Nobody said it was recall related. The two fire recalls were for issues while running. This one was parked for the night and cold.

yawn

The National Fire Protection Agency estimates that 33 cars catch on fire every hour in the United States alone.

Fucking classic MTC, christ on a cracker there's the peanut gallery of Armchair Columbos out the woodwork again. I'll be sure to send out DMs from this impromptu yellowpages when I need an online forensics expert to look over my second-hand photos 🤡

@LSchicago best wishes to your family, hopefully insurance payout makes them monetarily whole - not a lot can replace the sentiment and memories in our things and homes though. Thanks for sharing there's been quite a few Maverick fire threads on here and it's always good to hear from the people impacted over a national stats tracker or some google search result masquerading as constructive conversation

it's not reported to be a large number of the overall produced but you're right that the posted recalls are related to oil leak or fume ignition. this is the second or third fire thread on MTC alone that I've seen state a cold engine fire.
