Have it on my ‘22 XL if it ever leaves Mexico, and ordered it on my ‘23 XLT. I live in CA and have dogs so can leave the top open for fresh air driving on a warm day without them hanging dangerously out the window. Oh how we alter our lives for pets!
Hi there. With the mesh shielding sticking up so high, does it collect bugs when you're driving at higher speeds?

I was considering a moon roof. I used to have a Subaru Legacy that came with a moon/sun roof. It was great when I smoked. Almost as good as the vent windows on my '73 Super, but no one puts vent windows on cars anymore. Well, I don't smoke anymore.

For ventilation I use a trick that my dad taught me back when I first started driving. Open both windows only on one side of the vehicle. This creates a vortex inside the car as air is pulled out of the front window because of the Bernoulli principle (faster moving air outside the window creates a low pressure gradient from inside to outside), and then sucked into the back window to replace what was removed from the front. Even if you have AC in your car, this is a great way to scoop out the broiling hot air in the cabin when first driving on a hot summer day. As the driver, if I only have both passenger side windows open I get a draft from behind my head. And if I only have both driver side windows open I get a draft across me from the passenger side. This is proper "2-40" AC.

Now, I know this works in sedans and hatchbacks where there is a lot of cabin volume behind the rear windows. Not sure how well it works on crew cab geometry with the back window so close to the rear windows. Maybe someone who has their Mav can experiment and get back to this thread.
Mmmm vent windows love them.

Nope, it's a KJ, not a KK, and I still have it.

At least until my Maverick arrives.

If you like moonroofs you should get it. Certainly enhances ventilation options and adds light to your interior. Next best thing to a convertible. Headroom is said to be no problem...many reviews.

I like having one even if it rarely gets used. It's nice to pop open on a cool evening with the windows down.
It was included with the First Edition package, which is why I have it on the Mav. If I'd been going non-FE, probably would have left it off.

On my 2020 super duty it does, but when I vacuum the floor I take the brush across it and it cleans up. It does a lot to quiet the buffeting.

It could leak in the future and even if it doesnt one way or another water or snow will end up in your lap on accident.

Other than that they are awesome.

I'm just glad they didn't bundle it in with another package.
Open air? That's what my other toys are for.
YUP.
My Polaris SlingShot has all the air and sunshine I can use.

It’s a personal preference thing for sure. I have had vehicles with and without.

Never an issue with leak or maintenance or “breaking in” lol, if the crooks gonna break in they breaking your side window and gone, not climbing in through the roof.

I ordered one with moonroof after having test driven at dealership. It made the interior feel even more roomy. I’m 6’1”, zero headroom issues. Buy what you like 😃

What are some pros and cons??? Thanks
I plan to keep my truck a very long time.
I also have experienced that older cars with sunroofs tend to leak as the gasket hardens . I wanted to avoid that as much as possible so I ordered without a sunroof.

However, if a panoramic roof would have been an option, I would have jumped on it immediately. I know, it is completely counter to my reason above, but I really, really like the panoramic roof.

The Escape has an optional panoramic roof...why couldn't the maverick have one too?

Love my moonroof. Went on a weekend trip to Monterey Bay Aquarium, and the subtle breeze you get from just tilting the moonroof and opening the rear sliding window was just perfect to enjoy the area's 68 degree weather during the drive in and out.

For all those concerned about leaks when gaskets harden, if you use silicone grease on them each year it shouldn’t be a problem. Also cuts down on any squeeks. As a former del sol owner you can take my word for it. ;)

Yeah, if it were a pano roof it would be an easy YES. I decided no moon roof on this and save the $1,000 for accessories

All sorts of reasons.

Maverick is a lower priced, more "value-oriented" vehicle, so the standard moonroof better fits the bill.

As a result, Maverick was designed to reuse as many components as possible. Bronco Sport is the profit driver of Hermosillo Assembly, and was produced for an entire model year before Maverick came along. The "safari-style roof" design of BS means that it can't fit a bigger moonroof. Also wouldn't surprise me if it's a carryover from when the plant built Fusion and MKZ, and MIlan/Zephyr before that - the same exact part, same equipment to install it, etc.

Escape's PVR wouldn't fit a Maverick. Maverick's roof is pretty flat and level. Escape's is sloped. Maverick's is also shorter, I do believe.

Maverick is also a truck, it's a more utilitarian vehicle. Due to all the glass on the PVR, it's rated as unable to handle any load. A standard stamped steel roof with a standard moonroof might actually be able to support a load up there, obviously elevated on roof racks etc so it doesn't put weight on the glass, but I don't have confirmation on that in front of me.

Overall, the simplest explanation is that Hermosillo is set up for standard moon roofs as a carryover from its Fusion/MKZ/Milan days, and Louisville is set up for PVRs. Keep in mind that Escapes are built on the same line as Lincoln Corsairs, and a standard moonroof just would not be worthy of the Lincoln brand. So at that point, it's more cost effective for Ford to just offer it on both nameplates.

Plus, they get to charge more on Escapes... My Escape's was $1,495 MSRP, though it had gone up to $1,595 on the sticker, as opposed to something like $795 originally, now more like $995 for the standard moonroof on a Maverick. So that's ~60% more at current pricing.

Maverick will never have a panoramic moonroof. We're lucky there's a moonroof at all.
