Tire Plug Kit Recommendations?

I’ve never plugged a tire.

Replaced thousands & patched dozens of bicycle tubes - but never “plugged” a tubeless vehicle tire.

Anyone have a favorite plug kit recommendation? I found this $19.99 kit - but I prefer specific tools etc for my Maverick instead of universal generic stuff.

Please note - this kit is for traveling beyond any help & having multiple flats on multiple tires. That is, I’ll never use it - but want to keep it in truck anyway. I just want a plug kit. You can assume I have everything else

I've had to use it twice on 2 different cars, and it works well enough. I just looked for one that said heavy duty on it as well.

I assume you have a plan to reinflate the tire after plugging .....

I just buy a new cheap one every couple of years for the fresh elasto fries and sauce.

That appears to be a nice kit.

I've always bought whatever walmart / oreilly's, etc had. The only issue I've ever had was breaking a plastic handle. And the glue drying up.......

I keep a cheap Harbor Freight plug kit in my truck. I've used one a few times on my Explorer and I did have a handle break. Grabbed my vise grips and completed the job.

I keep the $129 Dewalt in the garage for regular use & the $22 Carsun in the truck for emergency use….

Hands down you will NOT find a better seal kit than Safety Seal. I've had my kit from the Snap On truck from the Mobil station my brother worked at in 1981. I have three of those ORIGINAL plugs in two of my Mav's Continentals as we speak. They will never fail.

This is an easier way (available at Walmart).

My flats usually go through the sidewall. The last one, they pulled a 14" round bastard file out of it. The tire guy at Toyota still uses it!

No need to get an overly fancy/expansive kit. It's only for emergencies. I use the Slime kit. The tools are rugged and the rubber stick plugs with vulcanizing glue works every time. Do remember to also carry an inflation device and exacto knife for trimming the installed plug. If it's the sidewall you're SOL. P.S. Do not use plastic screws. They're unreliable because they don't bond with the rubber.

Not completely true. Safety Seal CAN go into the sidewalls no problem.

I drove in once with 6 rubber stick plugs in a sidewall hole (34 miles)
