When braking at about 15 MPH getting thud sound, seems to do it whether hard or soft braking. Vehicle stops ok and does not pull left or right.
Disabled traction Control the thud sound stops. Does this make sense.

This probably isn't what's happening but when I had something similar it was just a metal water bottle rolling around in the back floor.

Various owners are having whatever this issue is and it seems that nobody can find out or figure out what it is. Mine makes that sound as well but it’s at the 13mph mark. I had planned on taking it to the dealer but I haven’t had an opportunity. I’ve seen post though stating that some owners have taken it for this reason and was given the run around, so there’s that.

I had a thud one day only when hitting the brakes fairly good. Just one thud. Nothing when accelerating. Turned out the back seat didn't latch when I was messing around back there.

Back in February, @SouthbayTremor posted that he took his Tremor off-roading and hit a rock at 40 MPH, busting his RDU. You can find the post here:

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...its-found-again-broke-rear-drive-shaft.61080/

According to the post, the damage resulted in him being able to hear the AWD engaging and disengaging very clearly. He observed, ā€œThe rear driveshaft shaft is always engaged from 0-17 mph when accelerating and when your slowing down the rear driveshaft engages when you pass 13 mph.ā€

This seems to be the most likely cause of the mysterious ā€œ13 MPH Thudā€ while decelerating in AWD Mavericks.

I assume your Maverick is AWD correct? This is an issue ongoing issue with some (not all) AWD Mav's but we are still trying to figure out what the exact issue is and if this noise is a precursor to a problem (or failure) going forward. I do know that someone who had the noise had their RDU replaced and the noise went away completely.

Please take a look at the following thread and vote on my poll if you'd be so kind:

I hear the same, thought it had to do with the transmission.
But as a previous person said, could be the RDU kicking on and off.
I just try not to stop.

Turn off your traction control and it goes away.
Call ford and complain so they can make it into a recall.
